This version has been out since November 2019 and you're posting this on July 21st 2020!? Perfect example why I only look here, and that's all. Otherwise I have no use for this site.

The link provided here yields SketchBook 7.05. I had to go to AutoDesk's website to get the proper link: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/sketchbook-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/sketchbook-pro-705-and-autodesk-sketchbook-2015-service-pack-4.html

The License says Free, yet this costs $65. Exactly what definition of "Free" is MacUpdate using here?

I should say that the new version works good after you know how to operate the program.

SketchBook Pro and Express both show constant CPU load of 60% or more even when idle on OS X 10.9.3. That's really annoying, as soon as I start Sketchbook the fans start kicking in on my machine.

Although MacUpdate doesn't mention it, you can buy the update DVD from Amazon (when it's available) for $29 and load it on your Mac or Windows. Two seats per disk. Perfect if you run BootCamp and want to use it on both operation systems. I read about problems buying the downloadable version off the Autodesk site (see review on Amazon) so you might want to avoid that route.

In my opinion I found Sketchbook Pro pretty easy to use. It's exactly what It says it is, a drawing software that features a gesture-based user interface. Though again it sadly lacks quite a lot of features that I would of thought it had when I recently bought it. :/ There's no line coloring editor, line refining tools or brush tools available. So basically everything is done manually and by how well and steady you can make your hand. Yes this is properly the hardest designer software to use in the world. Yes I would recommend using a different software if you are new to design. If you really want a stable easy to use software that is flexible and extremely Self-reliant, try Sketchbook Designer. O and yes its free if you are currently a student. :D

And another thing, unlike every other Mac application out there, Sketchbook can only open one image at a time. If you want to look at two Sketchbook creations side by side then you'll need another different application to do that. As near as I can tell, the only thing this software has going for it is that it is the best out there that I've found for producing smoothly antialiased artwork.

As far as scribbling and painting is concerned, this is an OK tool. However, I'm way frustrated at the lack of some bog-simple features. I drew some random squiggle and then decided I wanted it to be a different color. I selected it and ... you can't change the color! As previously reported in the MacUpdate reviews, there is no way to draw any kind of rectangle. There is a way to draw ovals, but it's pretty obtuse and no other kind of shape at all is supported. I also had the desire to drop down some text on my freehand technical drawing sketch but there is no way to enter text! I get that it'll be converted to pixels and not editable afterwards, but still... I suppose this is good provided you are ONLY sketching and don't ever want to change the color (or line thickness etc) after you've lifted the pen and seen what you've got. If you're expecting any kind of conventional drawing package features such as shapes etc. then you're out of luck. I also wasn't that impressed with it's 'lagoon' toolbar. I thought it took up a lot of real estate for what it was. I called Autodesk's customer support with a couple questions and they just told me to go to the forums. So I went to the SketchBook forums to pose my questions. Aside from the administrator's first post in June 2010 (it's the end of August 2010 now) there wasn't a single post. Useless. I know there are SketchBook fans here and they'll probably bag this review, but I'm sticking with my opinion...

I've been a SBP user since version 2. I was really glad to see the release of 2009 when it hit. But hard to explain my excitement when I got my hands on the latest 2010 release. The new tools make the sketching process much more precise without being overbearing. Ellipse? How did I live without that. The controls are clean and intuitive and it performs better than I would have thought. Straight edge is also a clutch addition, as now more than just my horz/vert lines will be perfectly straight. I've also been using Alias for a couple years now, and seeing the texture brush added to this low cost app, is almost unreal. My custom brush library is getting ridiculous. It's official. SBP 2010 is my only sketch book. (Weird to say after so many years of remaining loyal to the #2 HB.) k

Sketchbook Pro was already impressive with its easy on the hands and eyes user interface, its perfectly smooth drawing tools that feel as natural as pencil and paper. Now! With this update! Its even Better! Texture brushes that make speed painting real speed painting!! And tools no other CG graphics application has that make this a 5 star app! Its well worth more than its price!

Sketchbook Pro (SBP) kicks major butt. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a digital newbie, the simple-to-use interface will have you up and drawing in 10 minutes. Let's see you do that with Photoshop! One other reviewer suggested that ArtRage was cheaper so you should buy that. I disagree. ArtRage is a fine tool but all it does is paint. Anyone who can paint can draw but not everyone who can draw can paint so I would suggest that you get SBP instead because it allows you to draw and paint. ArtRage's pencil tool is terrible whereas SBP's pencil tool is without a doubt the closest thing to the real lead and rubber original you will find on the market. Painter, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Artrage, Twisted Pixel and any other graphics app out there can't do pencil well. The only other one that comes close is Scribble and that's not advanced enough to warrant using it professionally. SBP does it right out of the box... and the new version is even better than the previous versions because it now has a ruler and an ellipse tool as well as custom brushes with which you can create textures to draw with and save. All in all if you want to create amazing art with your computer look no further than Sketchbook Pro 2010. It's easy to use, robust and I dare you not to fall in love with it's interface.

This is without a doubt (IMO), the closest you can get to drawing with a pencil on the computer. Since Autodesk revived Sketchbook Pro, they've added some amazing tools and honed the compatibility with files like psd. Coupled with a good tablet/tablet PC, you can't go wrong. Excellent software. Highly recommended.
