I love this program and have become reliable on it since I live as an expat outside the UK. Its reliability is a bit touch and go. Hasn't been working the past 2 days despite recommended fixes.

For several versions now (over at year), Get iPlayer Automator has not worked for me. It crashes a couple seconds after launching on Mountain Lion and now Mavericks. The latest version, 1.6.2, is no different. Crashes and creates a crash report that says, "
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '-[NSMachPort attemptDidFail:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x7fd13062e1e0'
terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException."

Thanks but still no luck. Even after wiping out all traces of Get iPlayer Automator, it still crashes after launching.

This is so frustrating. The 10.6 version is no longer working and I can't get the 10.8/10.9 version to work.

The problem is with Growl. See:

Also, GiA 1.3.7.1 for OSX 10.6 still works, more or less. See:

dinkypumpkin,

Thanks. It was indeed Growl causing the crashes. Pausing Growl didn't help. I actually had to turn it off before Get iPlayer Automator would work.

Thanks. In that case, try the pre-release build (1.6.3-pre.1) referenced in issue #334 in the tracker. See if it allows you to start GiA without quitting Growl.

So far the pre-release build seems to be working. I'll test it some more, but it looks good.

Many thanks for your help.

"... regardless of where in the world you are." NO, it doesn't. This app has absolutely no idea what "British TV" is ...
Deleted after 6 attempts to download a programme and prefs altered according to instructions. This app doesn't actually do anything ...

You do realize you need a British IP address, right? That means if you aren't in the UK you need a proxy or a vpn.

This is not working for me ATM. It was working a couple weeks ago, but now nothing I do gets it going. It fails to connect and start the download. Waiting for another update. There was an update to the pre-release version on July 8th but that doesn't work either.

When it works, this is amazing. I especially love the ability to grab subtitles as well—as a deaf person this is invaluable.

However, I occasionally have issues where the app just fails to cache and the log doesn't seem to give any info. Sometimes reinstalling the app works, sometimes it doesn't. I tried to follow the link to the developer's site, but got an 'Ooops' 404. It might be something on my system so... please help!

Looks like a fundamental problem on the server side - is anyone getting this to work just now?

To Semiotk

It probably isn't the server side as iPlayer+ has no issues. I always prefer Get iPlayer because it takes its links from Safari (et al) but iPlayer+ has always been there for me when all else fails.

But you don't say that Get iPlayer Automator is working for you - it doesn't for me, *nor can I reach the developer's site or domain*.

Anyhow, the app is working now *and* I can reach the developer's website - common sense says that there is a link between the two…

Jaksta downloads everything on screen (and sound), and is of course independent of BBC iPlayer downloader's time-out at a month. Jaksta is weirdly efficient in detecting monitoring, as seen on Menu Bar, 'Monitoring On' at blue flash icon.

Jaksta produces a log often showing the name of the recording, auto-downloading to iTunes after video-format conversion.
I have Snapz Pro X but found its controls difficult. Jaksta is like a brain of my brain recording the screen output without settings and hassle. If Jaksta works for me it works well for this dimwit.

I've used iplayer in the past without any problems and like others I have now had to use a VPN which is dreadfully slow. Any ideas how I can go back using without the VPN for quick downloads?
Thanks in advance.

Seems to have an issue with ITV feeds maybe on 9th March. I turned those off and did a force update cache from the File Menu and seems to work ok again.
