Have anyone tried this LinoType program? http://www.linotype.com/fontexplorerX

Comments anyone? Is this working font manager at last or at least better than Juggler and Suitcase?

LinoType Font Explorer is a good font management program. I haven't used any of the other programs for a very long time (Suitcase or MasterJuggler), but Font Explorer is quite flexible enough for my needs and is FREE.

I understand that some designers might have needs that I don't have, but for basic font management, including the choice between moving and copying fonts, Font Explorer does a fantastic job.

Did I mention that it's FREE? So, go ahead and try it and decide for yourself.

Can't believe they're still slinging this thing after 2 years. This is the same mediocre font manager that I bought back in August of 2003.

Hello? Version 4.0 with maybe, let's say... hmm...

Auto-activation?
Multiple Libraries?
Printing Options?

Cripes, I can't even double-click a font to activate it.

Oh, and there's at least one bug viewing OpenType fonts. About every fourth OpenType font I selected to in Waterfall failed to draw on screen.

Still sluggish, horrible interface, unpolished.

Why, oh why, can't someone make a worthwhile font manager?

Without a demo there is exactly zero chance I'll try or use this program... it's a shame, because I've tried all of the other font management programs out there, and they're all quite bad, so I'd love to try this one. But I have to assume it's just as bad.

Not only that, but according to the web site, the thing won't allow itself to be run on multiple computers on the same network. So, if you've got a desktop and a laptop, you have to buy two licenses to use the program. SIGHT UNSEEN! These guys are smoking a big crack rock.

I've used MasterJuggler for years. You can put all your fonts in any folder like. You can turn them on and off as needed, without quitting or restarting the applications or computer. I haven't used it for a while because it wasn't available for OSX. Now it is, so I'm upgrading.

I too owned this years ago and it worked okay, but seriously the price, as are of Alsoft's applications these days is whacked. To date I have not found the ultimate font handler for OS X.

I cannot comment on the quality of this application since I have no way to try it unless I purchase it. The fact that any company can expect someone to buy its product "sight-unseen" is amazing especially when they are trying to compete with the likes of Extensis. Not only do they not offer a demo, but if you buy it and don't like it, they will not refund your money. I am looking to replace 20 copies of Extensis Suitcase, and I would like to try MJ, but refuse to pay for the opportunity just to try it. I will not do business with a company that employs such closed business practices.

Hi!

This is VERY BAD substitute to Extensis Suitcase X1. Suitcase is bad but this is worse.

Have anyone tried new Tiger FontBook features? Is there any hope that it works little better?

I had high hopes in this product, because Alsoft develops such essential software like DiskWarrior, but MasterJuggler Pro 3 simply does not deliver.

It has no auto font activation. This renders it pretty useless compared to market leader Extensis Suitcase. Maybe version 3.5 adds that.

Additionally, there is no demo version for it. It would be easier for customers to try before buy.
