Blue, purple, black and multicolor iTunes icons.

Overview

iTunes 10 Replacement Icons...Along with iTunes 10, Apple introduced a new app icon which many people very much dislike. To me, the icon really isn't that bad, it just isn't exactly a show-stopper either. Though I have already seen a lot of great completely new concepts, I decided to keep the app easily identifiable by using Apple's latest concept, a circle with music symbol inside.

I reworked the concept, making it 3D and just a bit more intricate overall. In the download you'll find four themes: blue, purple, black and multicolor. Each one was drawn in seven sizes and is packaged for Mac, Windows, and PNGs for Linux. All design work was done in Photoshop and packaged using Icon Composer and CandyBar. Enjoy!

They look about the same as the itunes default icon and although they are 3D (sort of) and are colored they still look too much like the default icon which is terrible. I would rather use the icons available at most of the icon sites. There are many! However, thanks for trying.I won't rate it because someone somewhere will probably like the icons.

Nice one Dan, To those people who still manage to moan about something that is FREE... get off your own lazy arses and do better then ! or better still email Steve Jobs and moan to him about the Apple version.. with the advent of the CrApp store you probably won't be able to change them at all before long... then I will moan too !!

Nicely done. -But can we get the icon in cornflower blue? All aside, The only thing I would like to see improved would be the plain black music symbol. Give it some life, a little detail to pop it out. Otherwise, keep going and add a few more versions, one with a red background, green etc.

You should also have a look to D. Wiersema's site We Love Icons @ : http://weloveicons.com/ and send him a mail as well to the artists who are creating those beautiful icons.

Thanks to Dan or whomever created this entry after I made my recommendation of the icons under the iTunes listing. :-) I spent a lot of time looking at replacement icons, and the reason I love this particular set is exactly the reason other people hate them. They're very similar to the original iTunes icon, but they look much more polished and professsional, like a multi-billion dollar corporation created them to top off the look of an amazing piece of software engineering, rather than something that seemed slapped on as an afterthought. I'm not one of those fanboys who worships design above all else, but I have to admit, the original icon was weak. This tweaks the design in an understated and tasteful manner, while eschewing the egotistical garishness found in many of the alternate icon sets.
