I used to really like NewsBar but under Mavericks it's been reduced to a bug laden mess. It fails to remember appearance preferences and the window keeps disappearing until you quit the app and start again. It has been like this since the day I installed Mavericks and the latest update to NewsBar has changed nothing. Unfortunately it's unusable under Mavericks.

It finally opened fully. But the choices to put the app in your dock are very poor. You can put it in the far left of your dock or far right.Either way for me it is a poor choice as I would like my RSS choices in the center of my dock as I have a few more RSS readers.Over all the choices of colors are good and the preference to put it in the menu bar is a good one which gets it out of the way but it still stays in the left side of my dock or right.It would be far better if it were in the menu bar as RSS Menu does. All in all it is not an improvement over the last version which was more flexible and easier to use.

wow. what an emo review. You past rated it 5 stars for using it daily. Now you say >It finally opened fully. But the choices to put the app in your dock are very poor. Are you really using it or are you rating apps to inflate your self worth online?

@Ed_B I use it but not too frequently as although I use it I do not think it is a good reader because the choices to put it in your dock are poor. You can only put it on the right or on the left of your dock, I gave it a low rating because of the poor design.

@Ed_B I gave it 5 Stars in November because at the time it was a better design,there were no limitations on where you can ut it in the dock. I rated it recently because of the limitations imposed on where you can put it in your dock.I gave it a low rating because of this.

This is one of the best interfaces I have seen. Two requests: 1. Growl notifications 2. Horizontal displays

I purchased this half an hour ago so I don't feel that is quite sufficient to post a proper review with a star rating, however I will say that on the whole I rather like it.

There are times when you are only interested in certain feeds, so an option to only choose specific sources might be useful, though this can just about be achieved via the search option at the top.

I'm not a huge fan of having to view the full page via Safari, so what I'd like to see is the option to view the summary and the full article directly inside the pop up quick view window. Keeping it all neatly together without the need of external apps would be excellent.

As an afterthought tooltips explaining the options at the top of the screen would help new users.

You might try Pulp, which give you the option of reading within Pulp or by opening a Safari window.

@Prince_Isaac,

Pulp (and Wallet) are no longer being developed, according to this post:

@sjk: thanks for your comment. That's sad. Pulp's presentation is without peer as far as I've seen. I have tried others and don't like a long single column of posts, oftentimes from different sources all mixed together. I also as a matter of personal philosophy won't use anything remotely associated with evil Google, no matter how wonderful everyone claims it to be.

It updates every minute? Is it really worth hammering people's servers so you can read the news < 60 seconds after it's posted?

In some cases time is important factor, for example in financial news. 1 minute is the minimal value, the default refresh is 2 minutes.
There are currently no troubleshooting comments. If you are experiencing a problem with this app, please post a comment.
