While I still like Pulp, I felt I should give potential purchasers a "heads up" regarding Pulp's future. I read today that Pulp's (and Wallet's) developers have accepted an offer from Facebook to go to work for them. They (Pulp's developers) state quite plainly on their website's blog (http://blog.acrylicapps.com/) that they will not be doing any further development for Pulp or Wallet. So it seems that v2.5.2 is the end of the line for Pulp... RIP John

I've always liked the newspaper metaphor that Pulp (formally Times) uses, but did have some issues with its operation. I think this new version is really nice, and it seems those issues are gone now. I had no trouble using it and getting the feeds I was interested in, and the way it looks/works makes it the best news aggregator out there. Very intuitive and easy to use. I did encounter a bug that was causing it to crash after some use. I emailed the developers and, after they requested some data which I provided, they've indicated that they've found and fixed the bug. This all took place in the space of about 3 hours today! So they get 5 stars for support, too!

Of the feed readers I've tried, I feel that Pulp has the slickest and most efficient UI. Being able to scan multiple feeds at once is a far more productive use of my time then navigating the traditional frame and column views for parsing feeds one-by-one. I also like that I'm not forced to sync with Google Reader as I am with Reeder and others. I have no use for this whatsoever. It's beyond me why people are so intent to share all their browsing activities with third party "cloud" services like Google, Instapaper, Evernote, etc. I'd much rather manage these things locally than have my every internet action monitored, analyzed and sold. Unfortunately, these features seems to be the tradeoff for having an otherwise full feature set. The options are extremely limited and generally non-customizable. I think the thing that annoys me most is the inability to delete feeds you've read. Dimming them is okay, but then they just take up space where I could be seeing other articles I haven't read in a given feed. Screen real estate (and the number of article subjects) begin to run thin the more feeds you have on a page. Rather than seeing 2 unread and 3 read, I'd rather have 3 more unread move up into the wasted space. Chances are that if I've read it, I'm not going to read it again. To be fair, other paid readers like NewsRack don't have this feature either, but why not? To me, this is the single most useful feature of the free Vienna and even Apple Mail. Because of this, I still have to use Vienna for the feeds I visit most frequently. I need to be able to clear the junk I've read or am just simply not interested in. As another reviewer mentions, I also find the badge to be pretty useless. It seems to only briefly show the number of new articles before disappearing. It doesn't give any indication of how many are unread. Also noted in other reviews is the wasted space in article view. This really just needs to be a button rather than an odd reflective bar that takes up a fifth of the reading space.

Really great app. Although, I have a few grudges against it regarding the badges. They seem to not appear sometimes. But when they do, they disappear on their own after some time even if you haven't opened the app. Therefore, when you return to you computer after lunch or nap/sleep, you have no way of knowing how many new articles are there. Hope it's a bug and will be fixed.

Have had this installed for about a week. Really like it but I can't subscribe to some feeds. I put the website address in the subscribe box and it will say there are no feeds for this site. Or if I click the RSS icon on the same website, Pulp will pop up but will not subscribe to the feed. I have emailed support twice, with no answer. I am using Mac Lion.

I began with Times and upgraded to Pulp. I like the idea, the layout, and the improved layout options. This is what I find irritating. No provision for my default display and reader style . If you don't like the app default, you must change it for every feed. No provision to unread an article. No keyboard option to return from page to main display (escape will do it). The developers web site is not terribly friendly. They could easily host a forum of users problems, solutions, requests, etc. My requests prove my ignorance about software development. I don't know how many hours would be required nor how much manpower is available.

I have used Times since it came out and love it. I have used Pulp on the ipad and really like it although getting feeds in is far more time consuming than with other RSS readers. All that said I love the products but am not very happy that less than a year after my purchase of Times I am being asked to re-purchase. I know that customer service is really lacking in this world today and it seems most businesses wouldn't know good service if it hit them in the face. But to ask people who have already invested in your app to pay again without real explanation is really poor service. By trying to avoid the issue you leave your customers to wonder if the investment is worth while…will they change something else and ask me to pay all over again in six months or a year? For me it is not the amount you are asking but the disregard for customer loyalty. I understand that the product is being offered at a "reduced price" but that still flies in the face of the people who have already trusted you with their money. I also understand that you had to change the program and for that you could deserve additional payment but your unwillingness to adequately address this is usually a sign of very poor service. If I just play like previous customers just don't exist no one will notice. Rarely if ever dose a developer just abandon a product and reappear with a new one asking you to buy it at the same price you charge new customers. Please understand this may not be your intention but we end users see developers who operate like this all the time and I was told "if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it just might be a duck." I tried to find a way to contact you directly regarding this on your web site but that option didn't seem to be available (except via twitter and another messaging service). I did not have to join twitter to purchase your product so I should not have to do so to communicate concerns about the product! I have downloaded the trial but remain unsure about your company and whether I should invest further in a company who seems not to want to be contacted and/or does not want to deal with current customers. In spite of my concerns my rating reflect the software only and in no way indicates my satisfaction with the way the developer has handled this.
