This app gets much better and better.

Thank you for fixing the aspect ratio bug on OSX 10.7.

It works very good without any issue or problems here.

Good video stream without dropout.

Just try it!

I spent over 5 hours on the phone with Apple second level support trying to do something simple: take the output from my IOS device and play it through my desktop system (audio engine D1 (d/a converter) to M-Audio Studiophile AV40 speakers).

Airplay should handle this, right?

Wrong! Apple has formally confirmed that you cannot use your Mac as a receiver and will update their documentation. Third party software is needed.

I purchased and installed AirServer. Everything sounds great from both my third generation iPod Touch IOS 6.1.3 and iPhone 5 IOS 7.

No problems, no burps. Plug and play as expected.
Wonderful product and thanks to the vendor for creating it.

4.6.1 fixes the 32-bit pref pane bug though it seems to have introduced another bug. If I select Preferences from the AirServer menu bar icon System Preferences crashes. If I open the Air Server pref pane directly from System Preferences then no crash.

Air Server Pref Pane 4.5.2 was 64-bit. Version 4.6 is now 32-bit. Why the change?

The App and Preference pane are x86_64 and i386 binaries:
/Library/PreferencePanes/AirServer.prefPane/Contents/MacOS/AirServer
Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
AirServer (for architecture x86_64): Mach-O 64-bit bundle x86_64
AirServer (for architecture i386): Mach-O bundle i386

/Applications/AirServer.app/Contents/MacOS/AirServer
AirServer: Mach-O universal binary with 2 architectures
AirServer (for architecture x86_64): Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64
AirServer (for architecture i386): Mach-O executable i386

You may have an installation issue. When a preference pane is 32 bit it usually requires the "System Preferences must restart" dialog. I do not get this on my machine with 4.6 (fresh install). I did use the uninstall script found in the 4.6 binary before I installed you may want to try it.

For running uninstall off the dmg:
sudo /Volumes/AirServer 4.6/AirServer.app/Contents/Resources/uninstall

For running uninstall from the installed app:
sudo /Applications/AirServer.app/Contents/Resources/uninstall

Both of those commands for Terminal should be on one line make sure your web browser does not make them two before pasting the command.

Hope this helps in some way.

Thanks for your reply, Stephenej. Yeah, I tried the uninstall routine when the first install gave me the "System Preferences must relaunch" message. Have tried with an auto update, downloading file from macupdate and directly from the devs site. All install a 32-bit air server pref pane. And I can see the air server pref pane in the air server app package is 32-bit only. Where are you getting your 64-bit version from?

The link provided here and the developer site is how I got my copy.
No idea what to tell you about the issue you're running into other than check in the command line with the "file" command on the binary files and see if it lists x86_64, if so then it's something else causing the issue. Perhaps take a look with Console when attempting to install / load the preference pane?

Check it with this from Terminal (it's all one line so make sure to copy / paste it as such)

file /Library/PreferencePanes/AirServer.prefPane/Contents/MacOS/AirServer

Okay. It's a Snow Leopard issue. Tried Air Sever on three Macs with 10.6.8 and all load a 32-bit pref pane. Installed on a Mac with Mountain Lion and it loads a 64-bit pref pane. Will contact dev and see if this is an oversight on his part. Thanks.

4.5.2 keeps crashing Preferences Pane. 4.4 works fine.

This developer refuses to respond to contact requests. Worst support I've ever encountered on software. Very cool program but that's negated by the inability to contact a human being.

This app is really good at what it does, which is putting your mirror-able device onto your Mac.

Really tired of the Sparkle update not working without user interaction. Really tired of the update not going where I installed the app (i.e., not at /Applications). Really tired of having to reactive the app on every single update. Still upset over the developer reneging on free updates.

For what it does, it's a good program - but everything else (paying, updating, dealing with the non-responsive developer) is excruciating.

I just received a refund from PayPal for $4, apparently do not need to pay for any AirServer upgrade, it was just a bug. Thanks to dev for this.
