A decent start but lots could be improved. (Note: this review will be similar to my review of FunnyPages for the same reasons).
I use the discontinued ComicTastic and LOVE IT even though it has not been supported for 4 or 5 years.
1 - CT will download ALL my comics in one swoop - takes a few minutes but when I am ready to look at them they are there for instant display. MyComics - downloads them as I click on them meaning I have to wait 10 seconds or so for each new comic! ugh. Worse it MYC does not scrape the web site and display only the comic - it shows the entire web page. Seems to me I could bookmark all my comics in Safari and "Open All In Tabs" and a) they would all be ready to read and b) would not cost me $9.
2 - CT allows each comic to have its own ZOOM - some are best viewed at 100%, some at 150%. I don't see any ZOOM in MYC.
3 - CT allows for downloading archive - provide a start date and it will collect them in one swoop. No such feature in MYC.
4 - CT allows me to GROUP comics. The best example is comics that are only Sunday. This makes it so I don't have to click on a Sunday comic during the weekdays as it is in its own separate group in the comic listing. MYC has SmartFolders but I cannot see how to group comics based on days they are updated...
5 - last thing I'll mention relates back to #1. CT can be automated with a simple AppleScript to launch each morning, collect my comics and quit. This is great if I am on travel and away for my Mac for a few days - all my funnies will be waiting when I get home. MYC has to completely download each web page for each comic on relaunch (unless the comic has been added to their internal archive folders).
I plan to pay the shareware fee in hopes the developer will really rethink the functionality of this application.
