Autodistract is a small tool that will passively protect your privacy online by automatically removing tracking cookies as you browse the Web. If you have Growl installed, then Autodistract will inform you when a tracking cookie has been discovered and deleted. Autodistract is small in size, takes only a tiny amount of memory, runs in the background, and cleans your cookies without touching cookies that are genuinely useful, so it is safe to use.

Worked very well for me (Safari 6.1.2, OS X 10.8.5, MBP), it cleaned up my cookies nicely, went from about 30,000 cookies down to about 7,500. And it did not eat any cookies that are good for me. I'm impressed. And along with my arsenal of Incognito, Ghostery, and MacScan, Safari is clean. No tracking cookies, and no unnecessary cookies thanks to Autodistract.

Seems to only work with Safari and Mail but not Firefox. I am pretty sure it does not work with Chrome.

From the developers web site, amplifies what is stated above

Autodistract only works with Web browsers that use Apple's NSHTTPCookie API for loading and storing cookies, such as Apple Mail and Safari. (In other words, Autodistract doesn't work with Firefox, sorry.) And Autodistract cannot remove session cookies from browsers.

This is not an argument by itself, if it works well with what is designed to work then its creator may be congratulated (or not, if faulty).

Note: I posted a COMMENT and not a REVIEW. My comment was not meant as criticism. When I posted my comment the requirements were not well-listed. They are now.

My only point is to underline that we must not comment / criticize what a creator had not intended to achieve. A negative comment is, in practice, a critical view or a critical review.
