Being available only on the App Store, there'll be no chance of trying before buying then I guess?

Sigh.

In addition, why must I be forced to go through MacUpdate's star rating process- when I haven't actually tried the software- in order to ask this question?

You can choose to comment in the pulldown box at the top of the popup window, which appears after clicking "write a review." There really should be a "write a comment" link next to the review one.

Still, I don't think its really fair to crush the rating of an app without having given it a go...write a PM to the macupdate support or something...
