Drop Drawers1.6.6

11 May 2005

Special file launcher.

Overview

Note: Drop Drawers is no longer under development, and is only available as a legacy download for old systems.

Drop Drawers is a revolutionary user-interface enhancement which provides floating pull-out, snap-shut drawers on the sides of your screen to store text, URLs, aliases, pictures, sounds, movies and anything else.

Information in a drawer can be worked with. For example, styled text can be edited, applications and folders can be dragged onto, URLs can be opened and sounds and movies can be played.

I've been using Dragstrip along with A-Dock. Will switch to this. Hope to see it in OSX!

It's billed as version 1.6.6, but the expanded archive has version 1.6.5 instead.

This is by far the most versatile and flexible of all the launcher and Media storage//filing apps I have used or evaluated. Had to find the formatting commands in their results to be sometimes hard to understand and predict. Still, Drop Drawers has proven to be the biggest time- in the labor-saving tool I have found. As far as the Mac OS pop-up window feature, it is limited to what can stretch across the bottom of your monitor, while drop drawers can be configured to frame your entire screen. I use to manage several work-related and personal projects. The keyboard command to hide drawers makes it easy to bring up the drawers only when you need them.

Well I dont under stand why you need it in OS 9. Why not just use the default pop up windows. So this program gets a 2 for value. If you want your pop up window on the side for some reason then I guess you could use it. This program does have the features that reg pop up windows lack so this gets a 4. I have noticed this program slows my G4 733 down significantly so 2 for stability
