D.O.A. under Lion. Unresponsive. Must force-quit.

2.2 didn't display the menu item under Lion, but at least it worked. This one does not work at all.

Would prefer window size to be retained between sessions instead of reverting to default size when launched.

Unfortunately 2.0 is not equipped to sort or filter by platform. A smart filter has to be created to do this.

Simple, effective and free. Would be great if it won't open the MAS and Safari...

Well, I upgraded my half-star initial ratings to 4 stars. The developer was quick to send me a link to download the 32-bit Intel version that seems to work flawlessly on my Core Duo MBP.

The Store News layout is simple and does what it should: list the apps deals and free offers for with direct links to the Mac App Store.

Give it some time and some improvements/additions and this will fast become a 'must have' to save money.

Thank you Christian !

Cool idea and it's pretty likely I'll be using this to spend money on things I don't need in the future. The rating is significantly lower than it would be otherwise because of the absurd behavior that clicking on an app's title or the "Buy" button opens that app's page in the App Store app AND in a new Safari window. The former alone would be sufficient; the latter is ridiculous on its own and asinine in combination with the App Store link. Fix that behavior, rating goes up.

It's an interesting idea for an app that will no doubt develop over time (and I dare say web services are going to get on this act too).

The 'Buy' button might be more accurately labelled 'View Details' as all it does is take you to the Apple web page describing the app. This is probably because the app tries to mimic the App Store HID itself, rather than the functionality of what the software does. Not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation.

If this develops into something that captures stats, pricing history, has a badge on the dock icon, sends Growl alerts, has a 'watch list', etc., it could become pretty handy.

Will watch with interest.

This app is a no go for me on my MacBook Pro 32 bit (Intel Core Duo). The developer website and the MacUpdate page should be more specific on the required configuration.

@Globe-Trotter: I am the developer of Store News. Store News is 64 bit only because it will be in the Mac App Store soon and the Mac App Store requires apps to be built in 64 bit mode. In addition I think it is not fair to rate an app like you did only because it does not run on your Mac.

You app idea is really great! However, if I gave only half a star rating, it is because the platform limitations should be well indicated in the specs before someone like me downloads your app for nothing. Even if it is free (and thanks for that).

I already downloaded and installed apps from the Mac App Store - even with a 32 bit 5 years old MBP. So, your app should also at least be supporting those not too old platforms as the Mac App Store does.

I understand you might not want to spend time on the PPC platform (even if many users are still on it), but at least ALL new Mac apps nowadays should support all Intel Macs versions, not just the recent ones.

Please send me an E-Mail to info@store-news-app.com. Then I will send you a link to a 32 bit version of Store News.
There are currently no troubleshooting comments. If you are experiencing a problem with this app, please post a comment.
