A great app at a great price. It takes a while to learn but the effort is worth it. I also like that's it's now on the App store. Unlike some folk I really enjoy Apple's App store. It makes purchasing and updating apps so much easier and convenient.

Would love to try SketchBook, but as a Mac pro since OS 6 and video professional for 5 years, I will not trust app management to "the cloud" on my workstations. Reliability is too important to my work. Have Wacom tablet & other similar apps, I'll do fine without any App store product thank you very much!

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between SketchBookExpress and SketchBookCopicEdition (http://tinyurl.com/3lsovax)?

Their website (http://copic.jp/en/sketchbook-ce.html) says that the Copic edition has "72 COPIC colors selected carefully out of COPIC color system in the design palette". Aside from that they should be the same.

One of the best free applications I've ever seen. A bit complicated at the beginning, but later I found everything I was looking for.

There is an increasing number of Applications for Mac OSX available only via the AppStore.
Sadly this is another free Software that nobody can download unless you bow and pray to the Apple-god. I think, it's a very bad idea to force the users through this policy to search and download from filesharingsites. :-(

You left this same comment on SkyORB. The software requirements for both these apps are Snow Leopard, which means you would have the App Store installed on your Mac. You cannot use either of these programs without Snow Leopard, so chill. I would have never known about SketchBook Express (or Pro, which I purchased) if not for the App Store. And let me say I've been a Painter user for years and SketchBook is pretty darn cool. Not quite as cool as Painter, but it's a great app. It's a great way for developers to get their apps known to people.

@Tim27 I run SnowLeopard and I purposely deleted the AppStore app. If people want to use the app store, more power to them but I don't and developers are limiting their audience by making their apps app store only.

I can not try this application because of the App Store restriction. Autodesk should offer this through their site.

Besides the unbeatable price, this is a great little app for quick sketches or full blown works of art. One can design their own color palette since it uses the Apple Color Picker. Works fine with an old Wacom as well as my Cintiq. Most importantly it is Photoshop friendly.

It's lightweight, great for quick launching and sketching without the massive overhead of Photoshop.

If you have Photoshop or Painter this is a nice tool for thumbnails and sketches on the run. If you don't have a high-powered Paint/Drawing app, this is a great intro. And it's free.

This is now the third or fourth app I've seen that I WOULD download and try, but am shut out by the fact that the app store is Intel-only. for the time being I must use a (still very capable) G5 machine. I'm sure I'm not the only user who is growing frustrated with MacUpdate (and Apple) since this new development.

Oops (egg on face but wiping it off) I now notice this IS an Intel-only app -- but I HAVE seen this problem with PPC-compatible apps...

It's Autodesk, so I wouldn't expect them to continue to do business in the free world any longer than necessary. Now that it's not necessary... buh-bye.

Mac App Store? Ugh, far too restrictive. I'll stick with MapUpdate thank you very much.

When I click on the download link above it takes me to an Apple webpage that says I have to go to the app store, but that page doesn't say if it's still free or not. So I have to sign up and get spammed to find out the price I guess. No thanks.
