It's good to see a free application for clutter-free writing, a really good alternative to the paid-crapware on the Mac App Store.

One of those programs -- seem to be many such in the text-editing category -- which you'll like immediately, or wonder what the fuss is about. Me, I liked it immediately, and am liking it more each time I fire it up. Very comfortable.

This was a great app for a while, but when the 1.0 release came out, I lost all my previous Central Compositions, and they're nowhere to be found on my computer! I can no longer recommend this program.

This is an amazing app! I was looking for a high-quality text editor to write notes and quick essays and blog entries on, and this fits the bill. It's easily one of the best-designed and most elegant open-source apps I've ever used.

Absolutely delighting. I do not know whether I shall write my next novel using it, but delighting.

Very good writing tool; I’ve been looking for something like this. I write a lot of texts in Scrivener, but sometimes inspiration strikes me all of a sudden, and firing up Scrivener is a bit too much.

Fountain Pen has a “less is more” philosophy; the only things you’ll see on your screen will be a “Get Info” icon, “Goal” or timer for writing sessions, “Dictionary” (as used in OSX), and “Output” - to format of your text. FP is clearly designed to provide a “writing environment,” a stripped down approach to text that even makes comparatively simple applications like TextEdit seem elaborate. But hidden features can be found in the pull-down menus: you’ll find spelling, grammar, and verbalizations of the text. If you’re looking for a full-featured word processor, you may want to look elsewhere. FP is designed clear things of distractions. It’s fast, easy to use, and - best of all - free, and well worthy of a download.
