Remux/recode video files.

I cannot figure out how to add a video elementary stream and an audio elementary stream, then mux them as an MP4. If it cannot do that, it is NOT a muxer, a remuxer, or anything else of much value and should change its name.

Martin, thank you! This app is awesome. I've been trying to find a way to quickly (and easily!) remux for years. The batch function is a massive time saver. If I had to make a couple of recommendations, I would: - Make the window sizeable so you can easily see long file names. - Have the ability to set a default format (MP4 for me). I am certainly not complaining, though... I'm very grateful for your hard work! :)

You can rearrange the order of the formats by editing the plist. Thought about adding preferences but using a plist editor does the job also. Need to look how much code/GUI editing it takes to make the windows resizable or if it's just a checkbox in Xcode.

For a quick support you could edit the plist and add webm under formats there. Not sure if there are any strings attached on what codecs are allowed inside webm files, so you may get errors on some codecs.

Fantastic app - the fastest I've used! Just wanted to check whether there was anyway to set the deafult file format you want to convert to when drag and dropping files into batch processing? Currently it appears i have to manually set the file format for each file after i import it. Cheers

Under the files window there's a popup for setting the container for all files in the batch. You can override that one by choosing another in the track window below.
You can also copy the settings you are making to all other files tracks by holding down alt while doing them. But be aware there is no checking if they make sense for the other files. They are just copied.

Some of the usage is explained in the ReadMe, haven't added it all to the tooltips.

1.4beta worked great for me, but 1.4 is missing the entire top half of the app when using batch mode. Literally, where the file list would be is empty and a big grey area. Going back to 1.4beta and all is well. I tried removing all prefs and files too.

This is an incredibly useful took and supremely fast compared to re-encoding with Handbrake or similar without increasing the file size. The one fallback is that if you're converting .mkv to .mp4 and use iTunes, most likely due to video formatting of .mkv the videos will not play in iTunes/Home Sharing. Not a big issue for me as I've stepped away from that and use primarily Plex and VLC (as you should too). Just wanted to make it known. I realize Plex and VLC will work seamlessly with .mkv files, I am just neurotic and want them all .mp4 for some reason. Also, batch processing is very hit or miss. Batch processing will fail if a .mkv file has subs, batch will fail the file every time. All in all, a very fast, solid app. Well done.

Hi, Martin. Thank your for your great app. I only have one question (request?): I want to convert from DTS 5.1 to AAC 5.1, but the only option I can see in the menu is AAC 6ch 128k. While I understand that 128k can be okay for a stereo track, it's way too low for a 5.1 track: if 128k is the minimum acceptable for 2 channels, it should be at least 384k (128k x 3) for 6 channels. Or maybe you could offer the possibility to chose from different bitrates, like MKVtools does (offering 10 different bitrates from 128k to 640k). Thank you for your great work!

That's a simple oversight on my part while doing the presets.
As a quick fix you could edit the presets in the preferences plist file to your liking

The main problem with adding it will the popup menu.
If I add all available language it will be a fairly large popup.
If I only add a few, which ones should I pick?
Letting people fill in the ISO code themselves will not be very convenient.

The only thing I haven't been able to get working is editing the preferences file. The file "com.mt.remux.plist" does not exist in my ~/Library/Preferences file. Is there somewhere else that it is located? AppCleaner found another file in my private folder, but it is a "playlist" file and it won't open like a "plist" file. Please try again later! Download faster and without limits - Get Premium now!" The fact I have to spend nearly 2 minutes getting a readable captcha, and cutting and pasting text for it (can you say security issue?), isn't helping either. So, no luck downloading. There's a DDL service whose logo is a floppy disk, and has a black BG, who don't play tricks or steal your info... wish I could remember their name, though (couldn't find them on a host list). The UI is a bit cryptic but you can use it. Unfortunately, the app created a file that QuickTIme player won't play, by converting an MPEG-4 AVI file into an MP4 file. In QT Player under Lion, the resulting file had no audio, and appeared to be playing only every third frame or so (although the net playback speed appeared to be correct). The app detected the contents of the AVI file as MPEG-4 video at 23.97 FPS and two channels of MP3 audio at 128 kbps. The resulting MP4 video file has the same characteristics, according to both QT Player and VLC. But VLC plays the file correctly.

As much as I love this concept and the simple UI, probably 15 of my last 20 attempts to remux to MP4 and M4V were unusable, and I've never gotten a useable VOB in at least 20 tries. I tried remuxing to transport stream twice as well, same results. I think I had better results with a recent previous version (not sure which), though with fewer attempts. I know remux is not a muxer for joining elementary streams into various file formats, but I'd be most grateful to anyone who can direct me to a nice simple app that does — especially to MPEG2.

ffmpegX (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/8988/ffmpegx) might just be the right app for you. The multiplexing feature can be found in the "Tools" section.

It keeps locking up after dragging a mp4 onto the app. I cannot get this working at all. Any help?

- Only 10% of the M2TS files i have could be muxed back to MKV or to another container (they were originally muxed from MKV with TSmuxer). I can't find any reason why. - There is a bug in the batch window. When deleting or moving an item, it seems to mess up the list very badly. - OSX screensaver (or standby) seems to kill the app. - Muxing a bluray sub to MKV seems to affect the ETA since it seems ffmpeg takes much longer (extra demuxing?). - MKV muxed into MP4 don't work in QuickTime but do work in VLC. - Some MKV files have audio problems (loud beep) after being muxed. Muxed first to a new MKV container seems to fix the problem.

Very good application. Simple interface but gets the job done. MKV to m4v or mp4 works great. I think there is a bug with MKV muxed with latest version of MKVtoolNix though (new "compression" feature).

Tried to convert .mp4 files to .mkv. My player Dune BD Prime 3.0 does play both, but staring time for .mp4 is far longer, though. So, after transforming the container my player didn't play video strim at all. Just audio. But my Mac played converted video file without any problem. I just wondering – is that converter problem or Dune player?

Let me guess, you tried putting AC3 into MP4. MP4 doesn't allow AC3, you need M4V for it.

MP4 or M4V with AC3 works very well in QT, VLC, Mplayer.
