What's new in JoyBidder Pro

Version 1.9.75:
  • When exiting the app, the program may show a message waiting for several seconds to make sure data is saved correctly. Occasionally there is a bug that the program asks for unnecessarily much longer waiting time. This bug is fixed.
  • This program will continue to automatically update item status unless there are 4 consecutive updating failures. In previous version, the program stops updating item status immediately after first updating error.

As of October 2017, JoyBidder can no longer log into Ebay, so the app is dead. The developer's website has been offline for some time now. It was nice while it lasted.

Hi,

Any recommendation on another snipe app to replace JoyBidder?

Thanks,

Mark

No idea. I have been using a web-based service in the interim.

I was a happy jBidwatcher user for several years, but that app became unreliable for me in the summer of 2014. I have been been hoping for an update with fixes for over a year now. JoyBidder Pro is where I have ended up. I have mixed feelings about this app, but so far it's winning because it seems to be my best available option for snipes in the last 1-2 seconds of an auction, without paying a subscription fee for server-based sniping. The good: I estimate JoyBidder Pro has been 95% reliable at firing snipes for me over the past year. (Once in a blue moon the app has dropped an auction and failed to act.) In the three-panel view, there's a log showing JoyBidder's actions and updates on listing. The "Group" function works great. Multiple items can be included in a group, and JBP will stop bidding once one item has been won. Snipe amounts can be set individually or en masse. (The set-up was a little clunky for me, but, hey, it works!) The bad: Un-Mac-like interface. Everything has to be done via buttons and menus built into the app window. The only functions available through the standard OS X menu bar are Preferences and Quit. No keyboard shortcuts. The license expires at one year and the app won't accept new listings till you pony up $10 for a renewal. And the renewal process is far from instantaneous. It's worth noting that there have been no updates to the app during the 12 months since I originally paid the license fee. No response from customer support: I asked a technical question in early August and, as of October, have not had a reply. Maybe the developer has left the building?
