With the app developer recently (yet again) providing prompt assistance with an issue I caused myself I felt compelled to leave a review somewhere for this program. I only use this program to sync folders (as a form of backup - ie I have a copy of certain folders on an external HDD and sync one direction to them as a form of backup) so I can't comment on the other features however, for what I use it for it works perfectly. Perhaps more importantly, the developer has always been very helpful (and prompt) when I have needed help getting something sorted out. I love Get Backup Pro.

I've been using this app for over a year. Initially I used the free version (when it was available on the Mac App Store) and later I've purchased the full version from their website. I loved the app for its simplicity and the easy way to create various backups or syncs. While I was using the App Store version, I quickly realized that it has obvious bugs which makes the app problematic to use. Support was quick and helpful and they patched up the bugs. But more and more bugs started to show up. Eventually I abandoned the app and started to use a different backup program which was exceptional but way too robust. And as I was saying I really liked Get Backup Pro because it was simple. A few months later I checked back where the app was, as far as bug fixes, and noticed that release a few updates since I used the app. So I installed it again and started to use it. Which brings us to today (May of 2020), using the latest 3.5.4 (1425) version. I am keep facing with more and more bugs to the point that it is unusable at this point. Erroneous messages and files appearing in the file list that don't even exist neither on my source nor on my target device. I have emailed support with a detailed description and screenshots of the problem. A few days later they release the current version - 3.5.4 (1425) - but the above mentioned problem still intact. So at this point I am not able to make any backups or syncs for over 2 weeks now with the app. I can see now that this was a bad investment. The app is nice, love the simplicity, support is, I'd say, great, but the constant bugs and bugs and bugs, is not only disappointing but makes the app difficult, if not impossible, to use. As of now, I will completely abandon this app and will resort to the other, more cumbersome app to use for backups/syncs. I don't want to mention the competition for obvious reason, but that app is rock solid despite it has such a multitude of features, most I won't ever use. I'm quite disappointed with this app and the fact I threw out nearly 20 bucks on the window.

I've been using this SW for a few years and have been very happy with it...I've even recommended it to a couple friends that also love it. However it will no longer create a clone, my reason for using the software in the first place. All it says after 45 minutes of "cloning" is "cloning failed". Any ideas?

Hi, Is there a trick or additional step needed to make it run faster? From SD drive to another SD drive, GB took 7.5 hours to back 260 gigs up to 80% on the target drive. CCC took 2 hours to perform the same backup up to 100%. Also, which company owns which, Belight Software or EaseUS Software? Get Backup and EaseUS have the same user interface, although EaseUS seems to be a bit faster. Thanks

I'm stunned!!! The same ~20 GB clone that Carbon Copy Cloner completes in 3 1/2 minutes and SuperDuper! completes in 5 1/2 minutes took Get Backup Pro 39 1/2 (Yeah, that's thirty nine.) to complete. Nothing else matters.

For what ever reason I could NOT get it to save the backups to a shared network drive. I ended up writing my own solution using Automator and Calendar which just works and backs up our FilemakerPro databases in a ZIP file onto the shared drive. Not bothered with it since.

I installed this software to backup a drive. Without warning, it completely deleted all the files on my drive leaving me with a blank drive. Reported to BeLight support and their support is as bad as their software!!!

Pros: It does incremental backups by default, so it is faster when working. It also has the option to backup to .dmg or encrypted .dmg, which is great. Also has the option to start up in admin mode so you don't have to repeatedly type in your password. It is also $20 cheaper than Carbon Copy Cloner.

Cons: I strongly recommend reading the product documentation (which is very good). Buries backed up files in a nightmare of subfolders (a "go to backed up file/folder" option (a button?) would be helpful). Bear in mind that the App Store version is not full-featured. Developers intentionally removed certain features from that version (the App Store version can be upgraded without paying the full price.).

Get Backup Pro works fine, but the cloning process is VERY slow. CCC will make a full clone of my MacBook Pro 15" 2017 model with 2 TB ssd in about 6 minutes. Get Backup Pro takes several hours to do the same.

Just to say it again, I love this super simple app...it just works! However I am having a minor issue. Since upgrading to Sierra every time I launch Get Backup (I have the Pro version), it asks for my admin password. I have it running backups overnight and it will launch in the middle of the night, then when I wake up I see the password dialogue box, I enter my PW and then the backups run. Anyone else experience this.

It works, but shows no log data. I found it to be unclear what's going on. Especially when backing up large sums of date, I like to know what's happening. I found SyncBuddy to be a better option, it has not as many options, but does what I need.

Just a quick heads up: BeLight Software is offering Get Backup Pro for free until September 30, 2015. The version is 2.6.1 and oddly you have to press CTRL while opening the app or Gatekeeper will not allow it to open. http://www.belightsoft.com/free-backup-offer/

This developer should be ashamed of themselves - the program spits out an error on launch under Mavericks (10.9). They've had ample time to fix it, and yet have not. That's no way to treat paying customers.

I have a NAS that I use to backup a handful or PCs and my MacBook. On the PCs I use a program called SecondCopy, and have done for years, so I decided to find a suitable equivalent for the MacBook. Hence buying Get Backup Pro which I use in Sync mode with the direction arrow always towards the NAS. That all works well for three separate projects, namely Download, Documents and 'Nikon' folders . Now my problem.. I have another sync projects set to do the same back up of the Nikon Image directory but to a 32gig SanDisk USB stick. Regardless of how many I times I run the sync it will always spend time transferring some, but not all, files that are already on the USB stick (and not always the same files either). Running the Analysis prior to performing the sync shows a mix of both green and blue arrows. I should mention that I have not added a single image to this directory while performing these syncs. Oh and lastly I also get the 'Never Done' comment for both this sync project AND the Download to NAS project which does work ok. er... help please R.

Incredibly slow and buggy. I tried to use this program to synchronize folders on two Macs (after getting the license in a bundle), and gave up in frustration. Even if you get it running (about once in every four tries), it takes forever to set up a sync, and then you can go to bed, sleep for eight hours, have breakfast, and it is still not done syncing 200 MB of data. Useless.

I have found this program to be unstable -- either it crashes my computer or the program simply goes into a state of (Not Responding). Backup is simple and essential and not worth wasting time with a program that does not do it well.

A very simple, very good utility. We use it for it's synchronize function only, which is essentially a front-end for "rsync." Nevertheless it allows us to synchronize projects across various edit suites without the need for a more complicated SAN. It's also very accessible for novice "network" users. We originally were introduced to it through a MacUpdate Promo bundle and while I was skeptical about it at first, it's one of the utilities we continue to use, year after year. If you're looking for something quick to synchronize multiple directories or projects and only need file-comparison (not diff ability) this may be worth trying out.

This does not seem to be able to back up to my ftp server. It says it can back up to networked drives, but when I have my server mounted on the desktop, it sees it and I can specify the folder to backup to, but it gives an error when trying to backup. I guess backing up to a server is different than a networked drive, but still disappointing as it would be nice to have off-site backup of my files without using a service like Mozy.

The cloning feature seems a bit limited I can only seem to clone one drive to my back up disk at a time, for some reason it has to delete the entire back up drive before cloning what is up with that? With Super Duper you can clone more than one drive to the back up disk

I bought this program as part of the MUPromo Bundle 2010. I had high hopes for it as I'd been looking for a backup solution for a while. I'm running Snow Leopard and, to date, I have only been able to get it to launch correctly once. During this time it DID make a successful backup, however every other time I've tried to launch it, it becomes unresponsive before I even see the interface. When I did run the program it did not appear to be a native Mac program - the titlebar looked mac-like, however it was coloured differently to a standard Mac app, and the interface seemed sluggish and unresponsive, not to mention the very odd UI elements. Despite this, for the price-point, if the application had continued to function without problems I would have been content. A backup program needs to perform solidly, and this program does not seem to. It is not clear to me exactly what the problem is. I have downloaded the disk image a number of times from different sources and transferred the .app to the applications directory. With only the one successful launch. I'm seriously disappointed with this product. I hope their is a bug fix or some type of solution to the problems I'm experiencing so I can at least have a working product. Otherwise for me, this is a waste of time and money.
