WiFiSpy is a small app that simply displays your current AirPort link speed (in megabits per second) in the menu bar. This is useful in determining where you get the best WiFi reception at your location, or where the most radio interference is.

It duplicates function already included with standard Airport indicator in Menu Bar. Just OPTION CLICK on Airport icon and voila, you'll get detailed information about every aspect of you WiFi connection, including connection speed.
You may also try Wi-Fi Diagnostics application if you need constant monitoring. It is hidden in /System/Library/CoreServices/.
Too bad it only works for the Apple Airport, not USB antennas. This should be noted in the description.
