Printer IP Remedy... As users may be only too aware, there is a major shortcoming in the Printer Setup utility of Mac OS X:
The only way to change the IP address of a network printer is to delete the printer and create it again with a different IP

Printer IP Remedy allows users to change the address of a network printer by modifying the printer configuration file of the cups printing system without the need of deleting the printer and creating a new one. The program deals with TCP/IP and HP Direct protocols.
What's New

I love this utility, but since I've updated to OS X 10.9 Mavericks, I can't get it to work. I installed it and it asked me for where the printers were installed. Then it gave me this message "Can't get every " of application "System Preferences". Any chance you can help me out with this, I really need the utility. Thanks!

Great, thanks you, but why does it want to connect to www.v.dropbox.com whenever I use it?

Hi Bob,
Sorry for the (HUGE) delay in answering (I didn´t realize your comment). The reason is simple: everytime the program starts, t tries to connect to a dropbox account to check the last version of the software (the user is prompted to update the software if a new version is found). Cheers,

J

I installed Printer IP Remedy on two different Intel Macs. One Intel running OS 10.6.3, the other running 10.5.8, and one PPC G4 running OS 10.5.8 and NONE of the computers could open the Printer IP Remedy application. The message I kept getting was "The application Printer IP Remedy quit unexpectedly...." I tried to Relaunch but got the same message over and over again. Any ideas why this is happening? I really can't rate the application since I can't use it.

I've been using an OS 9-running Mac on my network to do this task.

Much appreciated to see a simple way to do this on OS X, especially for any morons like me.

Alas, it did not work on this Mac [iMac 2.4 GHz, 10.6.8 3GB RAM] but I'll do some testing on other Macs on the network and report back if I see other results.

Cheers!

Great app, especially with the new version 1.1, which can now see/adjust HP JetDirect connected printers.

I was trying a new router, which changed my HP LasetJet network printer IP address. This app. allowed me to just give it a new address (instead of re-installing the printer, and losing all my settings, etc.)

Great work - many thanks, J!

Thanks god somebody thought on this!

I was looking forward to finding an application like this. It is really annoying to delete a printer and create a new one anytime you just want to change its IP address!

This application addresses this issue and it worked for me. Thank you!

Same problem for me. I select my printer from the ones it lists and it says it isn't a network printer and then just offers to quit.
