It seems users have forgotten they already have DigitalColor Meter. Go to /Applications/Utilities/DigitalColor Meter.app

I just had to use DCM for the first time, and it was a hassle because it doesn't give hex values. I had to copy the RGB numbers, then use Google to find a RGB to hex converter site, then enter the RGB values into three separate boxes and finally get the hex value. I am now searching for a replacement for DCM, that's how I found ColorPicker.

Although I haven't used it, it seems much faster than what I just went through.

Also, DCM is not available in Lion, so you'll need a replacement anyway when you upgrade.

DigitalColor Meter v 3.7.2 has 13 color space display options including 8- and 16-bit RGB HEX, y'CbCr and CIE L*a*b*. A very useful app.

There are also several other color pickers listed on MacUpdate that may serve your needs even better.

Suuri, I'm guessing you're using OS X 10.6 (or earlier)?
I'm using OS X 10.7.5 and DCM 4.4 has only four options: Native Values, sRGB, Generic RGB and Adobe RGB.

@BigJohnson: No you can continue to use HEX codes in DCM. In stead of looking for it in the dropdown box of the main screen, goto the menu >VIEW > DISPLAY VALUES > As Hexadecimal

It still won't display a Hex #, as shown in the ColorPicker screenshot above. It will only display the individual values, not a complete code.

I never change individual values, I want the full code that I can paste where I need it.
