Full screen, simple browser for kids.

Overview

Kid Safe... As a parent to two aspiring geek boys I\'ve spent a considerable amount of time coming to their rescue when they inadverdently launch, shift, minimize or hide applications - even an occasional log-out and a lot of other things that come in the way of what they are trying to accomplish with the computer on the web.

Thus to aid them - not the least me - KidSafe was born. KidSafe will do away with a lot of stuff that may interfere with the things your child or children are trying to accomplish on the web.

The lower half the description above completely negates the whole point of the program in the first paragraph. People would be better off using the built in Parental Controls to avoid any damage to their Mac's and to avoid websites not authorized for the kids.

As the primary developer of KidSafe please let me clarify a couple of aspects. The description you have been responding to has been provided by MacUpdate and as such I can understand your comments on our application. We have developed KidSafe as a result of real world problems my kids have been facing when using the web on our macs: launching, shifting, minimizing applications; clicking things they didn't intend with both mouse and keyboard - even though I've set up special accounts with Parental Controls enabled for them. All sorts of things that interfered with what they were trying to to. With KidSafe it is not the ambition to compete with or replace very capable tools like the Mac OS X Parental Controls. Instead it is meant to be used alongside such tools. We try to accomplish this by allowing kids to browse in full screen mode and while doing so disable the dock, disable application hiding, disabling the Apple menu, disabling spaces, hiding the menu bar and a good deal of other things. Best regards, Thomas KidSafe developer
