myRichTexts

2.4.2
27 November 2010

Elegant and simple-to-use rich text and script editor.

Overview

myRichTexts is a writing environment with smart document management built right in.

myRichTexts is a Staff Pick at apple.com.

Whatever you need to write, myRichTexts offers an intuitive way to just focus on writing without to worry about your documents, text files, backups, or how to regain them - myRichTexts takes care of it all for you! All of this is done in a self-explanatory and user-friendly way. myRichTexts saves your documents in the background and creates a backup at every start-up if you wish.

All of your documents are just one click away at the left-hand side menu and are completely searchable. For your convenience, myRichTexts allows you to add tags to your documents, which, in turn, can be added to your Spotlight searches and grouped into \'Smart Folders\' as well; thus, you will never again lose or misplace another text document.

Best of all - you can easily sync all your documents/entries/writings across multiple Macs. myRichTexts supports iDisk/Dropbox sync, will automatically save and backup all your documents/entries in the background and even supports the use of OpenMeta tags.

Work on multiple documents with ease, open them in a second and independent view, store individual notes to each entry and merge/combine documents/entries for printing and export them with a single click. Self-evident that myRichTexts offers all comforts you know from other mature word-processors like rich text formatting, word- and character count, statistics, fullscreen, customizable defaults and even printouts with footer.

ok. i'm falling in love with this application. i've been dying for a quick and dirty word processor that would keep multiple documents in one window via tabs or a list. word? forget about it. mellel, schreiben, bean, neo office, open office, abi word, copywrite, mariner write... you name it. nope, no tabs, no doc list. there is only one that wisely kept all windows contained instead of creating an insane mess: lotus symphony. unfortunately symphony is a terrible java port with questionable compatibility. there is also scrivener, but all of the open documents have to be related and stored therein. so along comes this snappy little gem and i tested it by keeping idea lists for different projects and i found it to be was easy and customizable. it's not perfect, but it has great potential and i have only one real gripe... the price. this is only a basic word processor, the only real stand-out feature is the organizing and multiple document abilities. and yet it's over twenty bucks?! i'm tempted, but i just can't pull the trigger. it's nice, but i already own a handful of the competitor's apps. unless it becomes a macupdate deal, a maczot, or a macheist deal, i can't see myself splurging like that for a two trick pony.

Try Scrivener: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/22995/scrivener Slightly more expensive but VERY versatile.
