SwarmQuery helps you search torrent with ease. It retrieves the best trackers for the torrents you've searched. The perfect companion for your BitTorrent client.
It looks as though this is completely broken now, and I'm bummed out. This was such a fantastic resource, and I'm sorry it's gone. A search for ANYTHING turns up no results. If it's ever updated, I'd love to use it again.
Exactly what is says on the tin. I am not sure I really see a great advantage to using SQ. If it was possible to set it up to automatically search for new episodes of shows it would be great.
I believe that there is no point in using this application, besides it's embarrassingly unstable..it crushed just after the first search!!! It's also very disappointing that I can't add my own trackers to the list..
THE SYNAPSE, The website that SQ connects to (as reported by Little Snitch) is a famous meta-search engine and on that specific site's Help page they explicitly mention
"________.com is not a torrent site, torrent tracker nor a torrent search engine."
If an SQ user does a search in the site (using their browser) and simultaneously enters the same keyword in SQ, the results are the same.
so am i mistaken in understanding that SQ merely eliminated the need to open my browser and go to the site itself? It's true that SQ does offer a choice of trackers for the torrent the user clicks on but so does the website SQ connects to and the list is the same on the site.
The UI is simple and informative but the preferences are basic (e.g. you can't add any torrent sites that you know or prefer). Also Little Snitch reported that SwarmQuery only tried to connect one site rather than try multiple torrent search engines.
