Minimalist stock ticker.

Overview

StockMeter is a realtime stock monitoring and ticker application that allows users to monitor their stocks. It also supports alerts using the Growl framework based on the triggers set by the user.

Includes a full fledged Currency Calculator to help you convert any amount from one currency into multiple others based on the latest exchange rates.

Also supports currency and foreign exchange rates and last 15 minutes graph for stocks. Auto update ensures that the system updates itself with the latest features automatically in the background.

Was working fine. Stopped displaying in menu bar after trying to add some index symbols. On 10.8.2. Removed Growl 1.2. Updated to Growl 2.0. No luck. App still shows active under Activity Monitor. Does not display in menu bar.

Pros for v0.7.4: >>Simple & sits on your Menu Bar without hindering your activities. >>Shows the currency conversions & Stock as a cycle in the menu bar. Cons for 0.7.4: >> Option "Auto-start after logging in" would have made this application get 5 Starts. >> Option to add the Stock symbols from various countries would have made this application universally usable & a tempting reason to buy (( Google Finance API supports stock symbols from various countries stock exchanges ))

Great little app. Does what it promises. It would be nice if I could set some times when it doesn't update so that it isn't trying to update every 60 secs while the markets are closed and thus wasting bandwidth. Also you folks should start distributing this via the Mac App Store as it would be much easier to find and you would get more users.

Very nice and very minimal! I was wondering how to change the ticker feeds maybe to have a different provider other than google or yahoo. I was thinking maybe marketwatch.com as they provide a more up to date feed during trading hours

Evidently it will not display the basic stock averages. It rejected ^DJI, DJI and other variants of the Dow Jones. For the S&P500, it rejected ^GSPC, INX and $SPX. It happily accepted individual company symbols. If you want the DJ or SP500 averages showing in your menubar, this application won't do that.

Hi, Please refer to the FAQs at http://sm.tripmeter.in/faq.php for more details. For e.g. the correct symbol for ^DJI is INDU. This is a Yahoo requirement. Thanks

1. Anyone figure out how to add indices like .dji, .spx, .ixic? 2. Anyone else have unreliable news feeds and a suggested fix?

I've been using this for 2 weeks now and love it. Thanks to the developer for making this a free app. It works exactly as stated. The developer seems to be very responsive, actively fixing bugs and adding new features. I'm looking forward to further improvements.
