Programming choice source code editor.

Overview

Note: Pacu is no longer under development, and the developer provides no support for it.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work; there's an error in how it's linked. The following command fixes it: install_name_tool -change /Users/frank/Work/libPONA_release64_leopard/build/libpona.0.dylib @executable_path/../Frameworks/libpona.0.dylib /Pacu.app/Contents/Frameworks/libvide.0.dylib Once that's done, the application loads just fine, but unfortunately, there isn't much too see. For instance, you can't customise the colourisation.

It's too bad, but I gather that this app has been abandoned. I bought a license, tried to activate it, and got an "unknown error". Tried to use the contact form on the site to get help, and that didn't work either. As far as I can tell, the only things that do work are the payment system and retrieve license key by email (which doesn't help, since you still can't activate the product). It's a pity, as based on the last release, I'd say this was a very promising lightweight text/code editor.

This is a promising new editor with a built-in terminal. Click on compile errors in the terminal and it takes you to the offending line in your code, for example. This is the most Mac-native look I've seen for a Qt application--very impressive. But two-finger scrolling in the file browser scrolls too slowly, and two-finger scrolling in code is (I think) too fast. And why can't Qt apps ever see Command-W? But these are nitpicking. If Pacu gets Ada and Pascal and Matlab/Octave syntax coloring I'll be even happier with it.
