For a long time, I used to jump back and forth between 7zX, eZ7z, and the like until I stumbled upon CleanArchiver. Then CleanArchiver started having troubles with Stability. Out of curiosity and checked the suggested alternatives link and saw Keka. Downloaded it, and haven't stopped using it since. It works excellently, it has a small footprint, it is fast, the UI is clean and no nonsense, and it handles all of my preferred formats. I must say thanks to the developer for such a great piece of freeware.

Has become my standard compression/expansion app. Excellent software that I also use to secure files that I backup in the cloud.

Question to the developer: Would it be possible to mark files that are not yet completely compressed with '.part'? Whe I compress a lot of files (splitted) at once, it is hard to see which ones can already be uploaded and which ones I still need so time.

Max I recommend you to use the list view in the Finder and look at the part size to see if it's already complete :)

Thanks for the reply. I'm on High Sierra and use XtraFinder. Maybe that is the reason I don't see a progress bar in the Finder?

No, I meant the size column. If you set 10MB parts, when a part weights that size is ready to be uploaded :)

Keka is my personal favorite compression/expansion app. It works with even more archive formats than are listed here, such as .ZAD archives. It's being constantly updated. It's easy to use and reliable. I use it more often than The Unarchiver. StuffIt is a distant memory.

BTW: Keka is free if you download it directly from the developer's website instead of the Mac App Store. But donations are highly recommended.

Awesome app. A must have tool. To support the dev, I bought it at the AppStore, although you can get it for free too.

Version 1.1.1 is now available on the developer’s website. It fixes the problem with v. 1.1.0 in which files could not be dragged to the Keka dock icon (and perhaps other issues).

I've switched over to this app. I recommend downloading the beta version. The icons on the non-beta version are very bad especially on a retina display.

I switched to this from the Unarchiver. I actually prefer it. Download the beta version though because they've modernized the icons on the beta version. I couldn't take these icons. Just go to their website and download the beta version. It's been totally stable.

Really great UI. Also it can set a password for the archive or even split one archive into parts. Like a good old winrar in a PC.
