Be aware if you download this app-at the next Mac update this app will not work. The developers will NOT give you an upgrade to suit the new Mac update. You will have to buy again-and again and again. See where this is going? Stellar wipe customer 'we don't' care - but well rip the money off you no problem This was their reply after having issues bought to them. We would like to inform you we have released the updated version of software that even erases files on Mac devices running macOS Catalina 10.15. You may purchase the newer edition using below link. Purchased this software in July 2019
Worked fine till my Mac crashed and had to reinstall the software. Contacted the tech support was transferred to somewhere in India. Spent hours on the phone to install. The tech asked to use team viewer and could not resolve as he said I installed the latest version of team viewer and he needed me to install a older version. Lol. I asked him if I could help. After ages he informs me that as I am running the latest Mac OS Catalina the software is not compatible and won’t work. I then asked him why was it being advertised on their site if it was not compatible. He asked me to purchase a upgraded version if I wanted it to work and should of asked the question at the time of purchase. I asked if the software becomes incompatible every few months and customers were required to spend more money. He informed me that was the only solution. I was then transferred to a supervisor who was just as useless as the previous 2 wasting my time and costing me as I was calling from overseas. I asked to make a complaint as I found this unacceptable that a American company would have such practices. He informed me that there was no such department.

I have Stellar Wipe version 2.5 and it seems like a premier wipe tool. I think some of the ratings on for this program are a little unfair and harsh.

I am running OS X 10.7 on my late iMac 2009. Few days ago, I tried erasing the 100G USB drive using 7 passes. The process started smoothly until the progress bar froze to one particular location. At this time, the progress wasn't even half. I choose to ‘Skip’ and let Disk utility erase it as usual. I tried again to secure wipe the USB but again the bar froze to the same location. I repaired the drive but that didn't help either. I ran Stellar Wipe Mac assuming that it will not froze like the Disk Utility. I got chance to compare the wiping algorithms of the software with the Disk utility. Both Disk Utility and software uses common algorithms like Zeroes, 3 Passes and 7 Passes, but Stellar Wipe Mac extends to few more such as Russian Ghost, US Army, NATO standard and Peter Gutmann 35 Passes. I must mention that I choose 35 passes to secure wipe my USB drive. Now, I am planning to prepare boot DVD to secure wipe my old Mac machine and order a new one. I found this $29 tool worthy.

I purchased Stellar Wipe a couple of weeks ago. First of all, I'd like to respond to a lot of users in general who say that "why do you need a product like this, when you have free Disk Utility included with Mac OS X?" The reason is simple; Disk utility won't wipe a start up disk! You can't wipe a start up disk with any product that doesn't come with a boot disk with a minimal system on it. You need a CD/DVD with a minimum system on it to do it, to start up your Mac with the DVD instead of your normal HD start up disk. This stellar Wipe indirectly has a boot disk, although you have to make it yourself using the Stellar Wipe software. I would much prefer it if Stellar Wipe would come boxed with a CD/DVD start up disk included. There used to be a product called Super Scrubber by Jiiva that came boxed with a start up CD. It worked great! Unfortunately, they are no longer in business. Now for the review: Simply put, Stellar Wipe doesn't work. I made a DVD boot disk per their instructions. The DVD failed to mount. I tried several times, holding down the "C" key during start up. But nothing. I then decided that I did indeed do something wrong. I made and burned the disk on my Intel iMac. The machine I wanted to wipe the drive on was a non Intel G5 Mac. I decided that this must be the reason it wouldn't boot. I then made and burned another DVD with Stellar Wipe, this time on the machine that I was going to use it on. But still nothing, tried again several times. In addition, it has a terrible way to make and burn a DVD. Their way of making and burning a DVD is very scary, especially if, like me, you are making and burning a DVD on a machine other that the machine which you intend to use it on. But I'll admit, this is an unusual case. Most people are going to be making and burning the DVD on the machine they are intending to use it on. The interface overall is pretty good, and they provide numerous types of wiping algorithms. You also have the choice to wipe the whole drive or just a file. The company Stellar, is an Indian firm, and their lack of command of English is apparent in several areas. If Stellar Wipe worked, it would be a pretty good product. But I can't recommend it because of that. Don't buy it! P.S. I ordered another drive wiping utility called WipeDrive by White Canyon software. I can report how this one works later.

NO software whatsoever is above allowing a trial period without first purchasing it, including Stellar Wipe, whose developers spit in the faces of MacUpdate's readership.

I agree whole heartedly with both reviewers below SHOTGUNWEDDINGS and MACTECHEAD.

Stellar wipe is easy to use and quite friendly unlike the 2 trolls that can't read TOD WICKS and THUS.SPAKE.Z

It is too bad MacUpdate doesn't have a mandatory IQ and reading comprehension test to avoid trolls and stupid comments.

Does what is says and does it easily and painlessly. I like the interface and the integrated functionality instead of having to things in separate programs. The best part about the software is that it's idiot proof unlike other tools that assume you know what your about delete.

What a joke! What features does this have over Apple's Disk utility, which is shipped with every Mac and OS DVD. Simply launch DU and select from a few options and away you go. I choose FREE over grEEd.

Yeah, you can download Stellar Wipe but you can't use it; when you attempt to do so, it tells you to register it to complete the wiping process, which means buying it first. So there's NO trial period in actuality since its totally unusable. For this reason, I give Stellar Wipe THE FINGER. No functional trial period? Makes a lot of sense, no? I expect that the developer, Stellar Information Systems will sell lots of copies of Stellar Wipe because of this.....NOT!!!
