The is one of the best project management / bug trackers I have used. Its a great system on par with most paid solutions and better than any other open source solution. I with they would include git as part of the default install as that is not easy to configure.

Redmine has huge plugins catalog. Here is one with CRM and Helpdesk features http://redminecrm.com I think ChiliProject will not catch up Redmine in short time. But ChiliProject drive very skilled guys, hope they will continue do it. Main requirement it is plugin compatibility.

Most CP plugins have worked for us out of the box. They have updated the system so Redmine is out of date at this point. Time to move on to CP. We have and we're much more satisifed.

ChiliProject is the way to go now vs Redmine. It's a fork from Redmine and much more progressive, active and well done. Definitely the way to go now instead of Redmine.

This is for a Bitnami Redmine stack, not a redmine vs CP. If bitnami releases a ChiliProject stack then great.
