Gents I have finally found a copy of version 2 for snow leopard. It had disappeared from the internet. Thankfully my old iMac had it before they switched versions in the app store cutting SL out.

Get it here https://www.mediafire.com/?gsmm84kzneer45e

Thanks. You've put me back on track. Brilliant. I'd paid for the original Tweetie so thank you for making sure I got my money's worth, Kingo.

Version 3 does not remember window size (OS X 10.8.5). It's kind of annoying.

v3 requires Lion. v2 requires and is last for Snow Leopard. v1 is last for Leopard.

Please update compatibility notes, and re-enable downloads of v2!

Yeah I can't get app store to download it for me, or tweetdeck. I have no access to an official twitter app on mac osx 10.6.8. Give me direct downloads too.

I've heard that the developer of Twitter can now dedicate some time in development of the mac version, which is very good news.

is this referring to the notification centre integration or something else?

@Electronicmaddness I had the impression that it's more a general thing, like more time for product polishing and developing. Integration of notification center is part of this. :-)

This twitter client is the weakest in features of all the ones I've tried. Given a choice between the web interface and this, I'd use the web version. I couldn't login using my email address and that's all I've ever used for an account and there was no help feature or any way to contact Twitter for help. I had to go to the web site for that.

Seriously? There are a bunch of better versions of Twitter out there. WHY can't the actual vendor come up with one that doesn't suck dead bunnies?

AppStore only? That is really sad. I guess many developers dont think that there are still people out, which dont use the AppStore.
Im still using v. 1.2.8, which is pretty buggy, though a good application.
I wish I could update, but I dont use the Appstore (dont try to convince me).

I hear they're discontinuing development on the Mac OSX Twitter client, that along with them preventing other people from making twitter clients is very concerning.

Why would you do this?

Maybe i'm just really dumb but for an official app why can't i find tweet feature ANYWHERE? i see reply, retweet, or direct message, but the most important feature of all, starting a new tweet (not a reply) is not there. how? I grow tired of having to right click and then "view on twitter" to send a normal tweet that i don't want to appear as a reply to one of theirs.

With the new version, the menu bar item is missing. The first time i run the app it's show correctly, but after a restart, it's gone, even if i check/uncheck the preference.

Also, i got sometimes the "user not recognized" error.
