WARNING!!! Actually, it seems that Deep IT is not the actual dev of this app??? As far as I can tell, this seems to be the real dev: http://www.dsd.net/prod/mac/shadeit.php
So it's not even a Freeware and it's still in version 1.1...
(but I can't be sure of anything as DSD.NET also sells Amadeus as if it was their product and not Hairersoft's...
I count on MU to clear up this double dev thing, if possible. ;-)
N.B.: the fact that this pseudo-version 1.2 is just an image of a middle finger pointed at the user made me wonder, that's how I found that.

Strange case indeed: I wrote DSD.NET and they answered it's not the same app!
I've just checked: Something must have been changed at DeepIT site or at Macupdate, I'm sure I've downloaded DSD.NET's app from one of those places, months ago, for free and that it's running since then on my mac...
I suppose there was some confusion at Macupdate due to the same name and it has been fixed in the meantime...

The current version of Shadeit! (1.2) is just an image of a middle finger ("shader.png"), a rude and stupid joke from the dev.
So I put a bad review for v1.2, but version 1.1 is still available and working on 10.9: it has shortcuts to set your display brighter or darker and is the only decent substitute to Shades.

See my comment above: I was referring to DSD.NET's Shadeit 1.1, not to DeepIT's Shadeit! 1.1...

I could not find it either. I opted not to try it out as such. For that matter, there are times when the caps lock key is very handy. It would make more sense to have the option to assign a hot key of one's choosing.

It works - as long as you have NOT disabled the Caps Lock key in System Preferences.

However, the developer says: :" ... use ~/shader.png to adjust the centered image ..."

I cannot find ~/shader.png anywhere.

Help.

By default there is no any file named 'shader.png' in your home directory (~/).
However, if you put something there... with name 'shader.png' (without quotes)
then the image will be shown centered of every screen.
Generally it must be not very large image on the black background... It may claim "keep out" or something like...

By funny reason I use http://unclemif.com/images/shader.png
(note: that really isn't censored image!!!). The image is the answer for all who looks to my screens without permissions.
