You should go for the Mac variant of Scid vs. PC called Scid vs. Mac. Scid vs. PC is a improved fork of Scid with some new features and a better UI. http://scidvspc.sourceforge.net/ Should be listed here instead

After moving Scid to Applications, it works until I dismount the Scid Volume. Now I get 'Bases directory not found' window crash. Any suggestions on how I can use Scid without having to keep the download Scid Volume mounted?

A chess database software for Mac users is most welcomed. This program is open source and works on many platforms (Mac, Linux, Windows). Don't expect it to be a "real" polished Mac software and there are some "buggy" areas. It get fixed really fast though as the developers are very responsive. You'll have to work a bit to understand how to set it and use it. On the positive side, it's extremely fast and powerful, has many useful functions and is a must for any chess enthusiast. A great job indeed and it is free.
