The latest version of iTunes converter causes high frequency clicks in the MP3's that are converted. This sounds horrible. I've got the MP3 conversion set to 48 kHz and 320bps. This happens especially during loud portions of the song.

Please help. Earlier versions did not have this problem!

Tried it. Very easy to use. But not stable sometimes. FYI, I use Noteburner to convert DRM videos from iTunes. It works well.

Since updating to 1.5.2, this app no longer works. It crashes iTunes continuously, and sadly, reverting back to the last version didn't fix this problem. I can't find the preference file for this app, so I can't trash it to see if that fixes it.

I hope this gets fixed, since this is a great app.

iTunes Converter works extremely well for me. For the way it work, (with no virtual CDR-W) it is fairly quick at converting files. I had about 300 legally purchased songs on iTunes that only 1 of my 4 authorized computers could play. I had changed my e-mail on file with iTunes several versions ago. When iTunes 10 came out all but 1 Mac could play these songs without the "Not Authorized" warning message.

Installation was easy and I was able to test it with the free version first on just a couple of tracks. I have a 20" Aluminum iMac with the 2.66Ghz Core 2 Duo running Snow Leopard 10.6.6 and iTunes 10. iTunes converter works very well.

I have just a couple of suggestions for the developer. Under the "add" songs tab of the main window, the application only shows the song title and artist. It doesn't show any other ID3 tag information. This makes it difficult to identify the songs needing converted in a large iTunes library. One work around for this little issue is to create a playlist in iTunes that has all the songs needing converted. The application shows all the current playlists from the "add" songs tab. So then you can ensure that only the songs the user wants to convert are indeed selected.

I also suggest for anyone using this app to create a "temp" conversion folder on the desktop and not allow the application to replace or overwrite the original files. Just a safety margin in case anything goes wrong.

While there are other apps that allow the conversion of songs from the stupid Apple FairPlay (or doesn't play) that may be cheaper, almost all of the other apps require a virtual CDR-W to be used to swap the songs. iTunes Converter doesn't need this as it uses other methods to achieve a better result IMHO. There are also free ways to do it too but in the time it takes you to figure out how use the free method iTunes Converter would be through quite a bit of songs needing to be converted. The time saved is worth it.

Pros:

1) Acceptable speed of conversion.
2) Batch processing of songs to a nice choice of file formats and bit rates.
3) Works as advertised, keeps song info from ID3 and Cover Art from the originals.

Cons:

1) Needs a couple of user interface fixes but nothing major to prevent use.
2) Could be faster.
3) Price is a bit steep.
4) The Help and Support information on the company website needs basic English Grammar corrections, but generally one can figure out what is being said.

Overall I am very pleased. I think the Audio Quality that is achieved with iTunes Converter is superior to other methods and applications. iTunes Converter plays the song speed up 5x times and converts it on the fly. The app mutes the playback so you don't hear this while it's processing. Because of this method the application isn't converting to a CD Audio track and back to MP3. IMHO this results in a better quality MP3 in the end. The user can also select what the bit rate and quality of the MP3 is in the user Preferences.

Almost 5 Stars form me but the application could use some User Interface polishing on the GUI.

A good application to do what I needed. Convert my old iTunes DRM'd FairPlay songs from an old account that won't play on other authorized Macs on my home network. Worked 100%. No stability issues in Snow Leopard or iTunes 10.
