AliasMenu is a control panel that adds customized menus to the menu bar. These menus work like the Apple menu: Each menu has a corresponding folder and the menu automatically reflects the folder's content. The menu name can be replaced by a custom mini-icon, to get a nice layout or to save room in the menu bar and add more menus.

I love this program and am a long-time, paid user... sadly, AliasMenu 3.1 does not currently work on Intel Macintoshes, something that Benoit is allegedly working on for the next version release.

In the meantime, I'm suffering through the foibles of the dock, etc. craving the elegant simplicity of AliasMenu on my Intel laptop (sigh).

Used this for ages. Nothing quite like it. Simple to use and works great.

I haven't seen any misbehaviors under 10.4.2. (G4 Quicksilver, 1.5 GB)

Benoit, when will you finish a 10.4.2-savy update to this awesome software? we purchased this software years ago and just love it, very very functional, especially on wide screens such as pb 17!

Tiger has been out for some time now, and its been a long wait to see Alias Menu updated to work with the latest Apple OS.
I for one would like to see a version that works effortlessly with Tiger without the delay. Until that happens, I will be looking around for a replacement that does the same job or something similiar.
Butler springs to mind as a useful alternative.

PLEASE can we can an updated version for Tiger...

it almost works but not quite...

one needs to manually put the aliases in AM folder and then on restart AM application has to be started for the icons to appear in menubar...

Can't live without it !

TIA ;)

My own menus: http://homepage.mac.com/treehouse1/aliasmenu/index.html

What I really like are the divider lines.

horrible. the only app i have ever used that made my computer so unresponsive that i had to hold the power button to make it restart. it's one of those programs that makes you feel like you've dirtied your entire install.

Finally, took care of that wildly fluctuating CPU problem. Now works really well in Panther, menus just spring right open without delay, no sticking at all. Never thought it would happen! Best performance I've seen yet in Alias Menu, thanks for this unexpected update, & keep up the good work.

Interesting and potentially valuable program, but it uses up 230M of my RAM. This is unacceptable.
