PicoLib (formerly known as Pico). Named after Pico della Mirandola (the 15th century philosopher renown for his amazing memory) PicoLib is a easy-to-use and versatile database for organizing one or more libraries. By 'library' one should understand 'Collection of...': in fact you can customize the predefined labels (Name, Title, Volume, Editor etc.) so that they reflect the kind of collection you wish to built; for instance, for your collection of CDs, labels could be set to: Composer, Title, Conductor, Genre etc. for a store, labels could be set to: Product, Category, Manufacturer, Price etc.;

While I can see the connection between this software and its namesake "Pico della Mirandola", the name has already been used in a well known piece of software:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pico_(text_editor)

This seems an odd thing to do after the mocking the same developers other software got:

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/30526/majordomo

For also using an already established name:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majordomo_(software)

The developer REALLY needs to Google before deciding on names. It's ridiculous to use existing and well known names like this.

Hmmm ... but me thinking that Pico and PicoLib ist sufficient different to not confound these two programs. Just my two cents.

@Chin You are correct, PicoLib is sufficiently different, however you may not have noticed in the current description of this application it says "PicoLib (formerly known as Pico)". My original comment above was written in mid 2009 when the developers had two applications called "Pico" and "Majordomo" which obviously clashed with well-known existing software. The developers have since updated their names to PicoLib and Majordomo4U.

Ah! You are right, I indeed didn't noticed neither the date of your comment nor the fact, the app was named "Pico" in the past.

Sorry for the noise ...
