Safari New Tab Button

New tab button opens with homepage.

Overview

Safari New Tab Button... Before dismissing this as a feature already in Safari please, please read everything.

Safari can create a New Tab by clicking in the blank space next to a tab which you don't have until after you use the Command+T option to create a new tab.

Also, the New Tabs that are created do not open with your HomePage but just a blank page until you install my button.

These are the main features and use of this button. Those that are giving it a bad review are not thinking about all of that before posting their bad reviews. This is a feature that has been in Firefox for a long time and I'm bringing it to Safari. Watch the demo video on the Web Site and everything they are addressing is explained.

Now... The missing button in Apple's Safari is here and improved. The "New Tab" button is now a reality. There have been many 3rd party apps that add the tab button but also a lot of other stuff, too. This will only replace your existing "Add Bookmark" button in Safari for 10.5.4 Leopard, with my "New Tab" button and the option of having "New Tabs" open with your HomePage. Nothing else, it's simple and small and Works Great.

OK... "...freely available to anyone with a free developer account through Apple." Forgive me but I think there are far more end users than developers and I just don't feel right pretending that I am a developer in order to get my hands right now on the next version of Safari! And... "...SafariTabs gives you the same feature and more for free. " I am not so sure you are correct here... Taken from safari tabs page: "...gives you the option of choosing what page newly created tabs should load." Frankly I don't need or want more options... I just want one thing: I simply want to click a button... and produce my home page in a new tab thank you very much end of story! I really think one of the key draws to Safari besides speed is its "zen elegance". Safari New Tab practices zen elegance perfectly by trying to help you see that less...is more. The developer could have padded his patch with a few more things but I agree with him, Safari really NEEDS not much of anything now. I agree that this patch has been missing from Safari for forever and I think it's more than reasonable to pay LESS than ONE DOLLAR to have this function since we can never know how long it's going to be before Safari 4 finally gets here. Frankly, I find it sad and dismal how many people on Macupdate give negative reviews for a good piece of work simply because that work is not offered for free. I am all for confronting developers who overprice their work but I really hope that more folks begin to consider the fact that a patch, or an app, or a system pref, or a screen saver...these things take TIME to make these things plus it takes commitment and perseverance to stay responsive to those try/use their creation. If more of us bought one less Café latte and coughed up a few more bucks for shareware every month, we would only see a steady increase of creativity, quality AND response when needed from the developer.

No review, just some comments: I understand that you can't click for a new tab if you don't have one already. This is also under the assumption that the "Show tab bar" option isn't selected. If it is, double-clicking works just fine. Second, the feature of opening a new page when you create a new tab is already in the Safari 4 developer builds, which is freely available to anyone with a free developer account through Apple. I'm not criticizing this app, especially since Safari 4 is just a developer preview and not finalized yet. Just making everyone aware of the options before they spend the money and then complain about it.
