Depth of field calculator.

What is ƒ/8 for Mac

ƒ/8...icon Photojournalists have a saying, "f/8 and be there," meaning that being on the scene is more important than worrying about technical details.

Yet with f/8, the depth-of-field and hyperfocal distance calculator for the iPhone and iPod touch, you'll be there with the depth of field spot-on, too! Anywhere, anytime!

What's new in ƒ/8

Version 1.2:
  • switched to a more compact screen layout (no scrolling required)
  • added an option to set f-stops in 1/3, 1/2, or 1/1 steps
  • added an option to switch from linear to logarithmically scaling for cm / in
  • restricted the max distance range for cm / in to 1000cm / 400in
  • the order of the cameras and lenses in the bag now can be changed
  • for lenses, the maximum aperture and minimum focus distance may be specified
  • added some additional models to the camera database
  • bug fixes

Very nice little depth-of-field calculator with a lot of thought put into good usability. Little things such as the concept of having a "bag with cameras and lenses", the quick-dial in long lists of cameras, and the use of sliders (instead of having to type numbers) make it faster and easier to use than its competitors. A great app!
