MyTunes... Reclaims your iTunes Library. A little bit at least. This application is a script that you run once to get rid of the iTunes Music Store links in iTunes 8, an option that is normally inaccessible from the GUI.

As of version 1.1 it also gets rid of the iTunes Genre Browser, which is a nice touch :-)

Those in the know will be able to make this work in Terminal but for those who want an easy solution to this rather annoying feature of iTunes 8 this is a nice, fast and free download :-)
What's New
Version 1.1: Includes Genre Browser remover as of 1.1
Requirements

Sure you could just copy+paste the code into terminal and most likely it would work, or if you're lazy like me or don't like terminal there's this lovely little alternative. Downloaded, ran and deleted afterwards; works just like description says.

Thanks:)

You can also achieve the same thing by typing the following in the terminal:

To remove the Genre column you need to launch the terminal and enter the following text:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-genre-when-browsing -bool FALSE

When you relaunch iTunes the Genre tab will be gone. If you want it back, repeat the process but replace FALSE with TRUE.

If you want to disable those iTunes store links you'll need to enter the following:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE

Great. Got rid of those annoying music store arrows. Even redirecting them to display the original file (using Onyx) just wasn't the same as having them altogether gone.

Thanks!
