PreferenceCleaner ... Preference files can become corrupt and cause an application to become unstable. Alternatively, if an application has a large array of preferences you might find it simpler to delete the files than to locate a setting which has enabled an undesired behaviour. PreferenceCleaner is a utility which aims to simplify the task of deleting preference files.

PreferenceCleaner allows you create and store batch lists of files to be deleted in the event that you need to remove the same files repeatedly.

I tested this out real quickly with a pref I could easily reinstall. It did a pretty good job finding all of the associated files that the latest CleanApp found in comparison. I'm not saying that would be the case with all such, but...

CleanApp is still THE deinstaller for everything. Nothing matches up. But if you're using a freeware app deinstaller (some of which reasonable to good), this will help you out when any of those can't touch a pref pane.

What we really need is an application which detect preference files which are not associated with any application, i.e files of applications where we have deleted the applications but forgot to delete their preference files.

I agree. That's what tempted me to have a look at this.

Thanks for your comment. Now that I see this isn't what we thought it was, off on another hunt. But, I take this moment to thank the dev, sincerely, for contributing to the community. Much appreciated!
