Precipitate overview
Precipitate lets you search for and launch your data stored in Google services from Spotlight or Google Desktop for Mac. It currently supports the following services:
- Google Bookmarks
- Google Docs
- Picasa Web Albums
Precipitate works by creating files on your machine that are imported by Spotlight, then periodically checking in with the server and updating the local files to reflect any changes. Note that changes may take up to an hour to be visible in local searches.

Cloud Data is essentially the data that is stored on external servers. For example: Google allows you to save documents on their servers as well as personal bookmarks. This data would be considered to be stored in the cloud - the cloud in this place being Google's servers.
The Cloud is just a fancy name for information that is accessible from any computer with an internet connection.
