Development has officially ended.
I received a very courteous e-mail with the info on how to transfer my Iris license to an Acorn license for free.
Pity development stopped, but indeed there was very little unique Iris offered compared to the competition.
It seems a bit dead, the last dev blog update was an announcement that an update was coming, a year and a half ago, I'd suggest steering clear or contacting if you're worried about support.
I like the UI.
But Iris still has a lot of problems. In contrast to my former poster I don't think a version 1.0 should have so many issues.
Gradient fill didn't work for me at all on small images.
Cursor symbol is not correct on some operations.
Colors cannot be saved.
It also is still quite unstable. I had one crash in 5 minutes of playing around.
No support page/forum, nothing for Iris.
I really hope that many things will be improved real soon for all the people that bought a copy.
In testing this app, I found crashers when applying filters to single layer JPEGs, and also found inoperative or incomplete features. Example: the color picker has no option for pixel values and does not work with the HSB color mode.
For $79 the application should be a lot more polished than this IMO. I like the idea of putting core editing tools inside an Aperture-like UI (much better concept than Pixelmator which is a total mess of a UI), but it's only half-baked IMO.
Looks promising, like the environment; however, seemed to have one issue that makes it hard to evaluate....once I put an item on the canvas I cannot seem to be able to select just that item and move it around the canvas.......am I doing something wrong? Seems the only way to do that is put each item on a different layer and "select all"......
How would you rate Iris app?
