Give MySafe a go. Simple and free. I've been using it happily on ML but, according to a reviewer, it works fine on SL too.

I found myself with all manner of confidential stuff stored in my notebook app and thought I should finally do something about it.
A mooch around MacUpdate soon revealed SharedSecrets, which is absolutely perfect for my needs. And free too.
Thanks to the dev for it!

I should add, however, that the dev tells me that it has not been tested on Lion and he has no plans to do so. Very silly IMHO as it's a fab bit of kit.
Not that I have any plans to upgrade, being very happy with SnowLeopard. The time will doubtlessly come when I'll be forced into 'updating' and consequently having to bid farewell to many beloved apps. I'd be very pleased if the excellent Shared Secrets wasn't one of them! Anybody know if it works in 10.7?

Note for Knowhowe...........I'm using this app on Mountain Lion and it appears to be working fine so, presumably, it will be o.k. on Lion too. :-)
I second your "thanks to the dev for it".
