Folks: We have a winner!
Just add Flip4Mac and finally we have a way to play streaming asx/Windows Media on a Mac without the clunkiness of the QuickTime Player (for playing audio only, it -IS- clunky and big).
My only request is some kind of F-key control like SizzlingKeys has for working with iTunes. Granted, there are command keys that work when the app is to the front, but that's not convenient when working in other programs and you want to just hit one button to pause or mute.
Maybe the developers can get together. Think I'll post this idea over there. ;)
There are still issues with the interaction between thumbnail and the main viewing window. Sometimes, one will run and not the other, sometimes both together but slightly offset, creating a strange audio echo effect.
To have the thumbnail and main window linked so that they always play together would be the way to go.
This could really be the new Bitplayer that we have been waiting for for all these years. As a presentation application it still has some issues to sort out with the interaction between the main window and the thumbnail window, but it's a good start and hopefully will continue to develop in positive ways.
