Darken your menubar.

Just putting it out there to the developer - if you make the licence reminder only come up on the screen periodically people like myself would be more likely to actually try it out. As for me, I got so over the big red reminder in the menubar I quit the app in under 2 minutes and doubt I'll ever give it a decent trial because of this.

A must-have for OS X, together with HazeOver, f.lux and cDock2. Sure, you can always go for the default dark mode, but this is different… way better. Don't want my system without it. Working great on El Capitan (10.11.3). However, in addition to the delay function, I'd love to have a keep-bright function, as long as the user navigates through menus. But that's not enough to reduce the rating, so yeah, 5 stars. Well-deserved. PS: Timer should have the option to set the value in seconds, too. (Just sayin'.) Would love to sync it with my HazeOver settings. :)

On OSX.8.2 it darkens the menubar for some minutes or an hour, but then suddenly the menubar is lightgrey as normal so that you have to open MenuEclipse again, make your setting again, close it again ... Love your posts! Can confirm similar behaviour on my computer. But wait, there's more.... I have ME set at a dark blue at 25% as my required/requested setting. I have identified PART of the problem - every time my screen saver kicks in, Menu Eclipse either darkens the colouring (as though it is running 2 processes, and it looks like my Menu is at 50% colouring) OR resets my menu bar to default Apple grey with no colouring, ie 0% ME. The next time the screen saver kicks in, it will darken again and the cycle restarts. Predictable and repeatable. My screen saver is the 3D Matrix screensaver from http://www.uselesscreations.com/mac/matrix/

I edited the minimum requirements to 10.6 inside the plist from the demo and this works on 10.6.8. Scrubbing and fading worked as advertised. Too bad I cannot purchase this with the MAS requirements set for 10.7. Oh well I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Thats becuase our app uses API specifically available in 10.7 and we had to move on from 10.6 to add more features and play nice with Apple and Mac OS X. This is quite usual in development. We don't support or recommend "hacking" our app for use in older OS's that are not supported. Be ware! And please don't write a bad review now just because your hack didn't work! We are constantly fighting bad reviews based on invalid input or cause not on our end - which lead to low sales which lead to no development.

and it still doesn't work... Despite my working with the developer, it continues to not work 100% of the time. There is nothing "wrong" with my system - the developers let me know - in no uncertain terms in their emails - that they were unhappy with my review, suggesting it was my system that was at fault, rather than their code. The dev even suggested some un-named "system extensions" were responsible! There is nothing wrong with telling others that software doesn't work - look through MacUpdate pages and there are lots of positive and negative reviews. Mine was an honest description of my experience with the software - it doesn't work 100% of the time, despite frequent attempts to solve the issue. I have deleted all files, cleared all prefs etc and re-installed from the MAS. All to no avail. I have been using Macs since the mid-1980s and I know how to troubleshoot most software problems. To simply dismiss the issue as a result of "problems" with my system is a cop-out by the dev. I bought the app in good faith, assumed it would work, when it didn't, I provided a review. I worked with the dev, providing system logs etc but the final email from the dev was that "it most likely just your system" that was at fault. That's a cop-out as far as I am concerned. I have worked with other devs when I have identified bugs etc, and I will continue to do so.

We still don't know why Mr. Eric-Woehler's system is not working with Menu Eclipse as this is the first TIME EVER such a problem has been reported out of thousands and thousands of users. We strongly continue to believe that there is something wrong with Mr. Eric-Woehler's system until proven otherwise. Apple has also tested our software many times and released it on the App Store to be safe and stable 100%. We are always happy and engaged to help our users, but unfortunately this time we can't figure out or see any problem as our software is running as expected - and Mr. Eric-Woehler's system is causing the settings file(s) used by Menu Eclipse to be reverted upon each system restart, and not when the application quits. Which strongly confirms that something in Mr. Eric-Woehler's system is making these settings to bad upon restart. And so again strongly confirms that there is actually something wrong with Mr. Eric-Woehler's system as he didn't have problems with the software on other computers. That said, we value our software review but don't like bad reviews based on invalid input or human emotions.

I've tried this in the past, but I had some issues with how my menubar appeared. I'm not saying it's bad; it just didn't meet personal standards. I went with a combo of Leo ColorBar and Nocturne, both of which are free. So, now they have a new version of this, and I'm open to trying it, but for some apocalyptic reason, it seems that developers who used to offer demo versions are now no longer able to do so. There's no way I'm spending $3 just to see if this new improved version does what I need.

Works great. Its amazing how much the menubar can be a distraction when your program window is maximised to take up the full screen. menueclipse fixes that quite well. Would be good if the old icon menu from 2.0 was back. I remember trying this app years ago when it was free :)) I just paid $2 for it though, so for that, i reckon a feature that actually hides the menubar for all applications would be a good thankyou from the developer, lol.

Haters, haters, haters be gone! Why is this user below called "@timi" giving this app a 0.5 rating because there is no Demo version or how the developer handels comments... huh? That makes no sence, this simple little utility does what is advertises for only 1.99, thats good enough for me. I wouldn't wan't this app to stop existing just because of these damn haters!! And then the user below called "Virgeist" also gives 0.5 rating becasue he finds Nocturne to be better and free, but they don't do the same thing even!? Anyway that is just wrong. I support this app 100% - keep it up!

I absolutely, positively and definitely refuse to pay for such an insignificant, virtually unnoticeable, dull-as-all-%#@&%# function even if it is only a lousy miserable $5. Over my dead body. If the author expects people to pay good money for something like this then he or she is living in a land of make-believe..... I'm sure it is very clever and well done, don't get me wrong, but it is a ridiculous price and I will not pay. Not now or ever. Not even if my life depended on it. NO WAY!!!! I might pay $1. That seems reasonable. After all, I'm no scrooge......

Absolutely does what it says. Just one problem: "Launch at login" is functioning only when I re-login (when I logout and then login), but when I restart (reboot) my OSX.5.8, then MenuEclipse is running without darkening the menu bar. In this case I always must open the MenuEclipse application and click onto the blue "Eclipse Amount" slider so that it works.

This is an almost perfect replacement for MenuShade, the main thing missing is an application exclusion list, so that you can disable menu dimming in certain programs, especially ones where you use the menu bar a lot, i.e. Photoshop.

Unless you can change the colour of text labels in the menu bar, there really isn't much point in darkening it as you're just reducing contrast and making it harder to read. If you want a dark theme you really need lighter text to make it work...

This is a good application, but I want it to do better. I feel like if enough people use this, the developer will have to add new features users want. First, I'll give it 5 stars because it's the best thing out there that works with Leopard. Menufela & Menushade I hear good things about for people who don't have Leopard. BUt apparently these apps will cause the blue screen of death and the developers haven't done anything to update it yet. I can hope hope the developers are reading this right now. One thing I like is the ability to customize the level of "blackness". This is pretty much the only thing it does and sort of the only thing I was looking for. But now that I've used it, a few ideas came to mind. I would like more options, like the ability to hide it (just like hiding the Dock). I know this is vastly different and requires different code from just covering it up. So a huge thanks to the developer if he can update this with that function. Also, I currently have the app in my Dock for easy access. However, I would like to have it in my menu bar (ironic isn't it) to avoid taking up more space in my Dock. In essence, I would like it to be in the background. I don't wanna know it's there. I'm going to keep this app until I find something better, but hopefully the developers will update this with more features before Menufela or MenuShade update their apps for Leopard.
