Menubar item iTunes controller.

Overview

iTunesMenu displays the current song artist, name, and/or album right in the menu so you can see what song is currently playing easily.

  • iTunesMenu was made because I couldn't find anything like it.
  • iTunesMenu has a built in fully featured alarm that I use to backup my server.
  • iTunesMenu has hot key support so you can easily pause/play and skip songs from your keyboard.
  • iTunesMenu has support for last.fm scrobbling so your friends can keep up to date with what your listening to.
  • iTunesMenu has Motion features so you can shake your Mac to have it skip songs and shuffle.
  • iTunesMenu has Growl support so you can see the current playing songs in notifications.
  • I do ask for donations on Alarm Clock, Playlist Choosing, and Hot Keys.

Very good and does what it says on the tin. However, be aware that it also tries to send your info to ad based sites without your permission. Here is a shot of my Little Snitch rules: http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/4430/screenshotls.png As you can see, there are 6 rules pertaining to the scrobbling features, 1 for the app itself (update), but 4 for other sites. Whether they're all spam related I don't know, but I don't want ANY of my info being sent to a doubleclick site for instance. In short, great app if you remember to block the dodgy behaviour with Little Snitch first.

For my "donation", the application works, well, and has functionality others in the category don't offer to my experience (streaming Internet radio playlist). Excellent support from the author as well. Free means free for the basics, donation for the advanced functionality. Pretty straight forward in my book.

This is donation ware, they don't have a category for it so I just set it to free because the basic functionality is free which is most of it.

This is a great little, unobtrusive app for iTunes. The only problem is, of course, that iTunes has to run to play music... I wish Apple would disconnect the music playing code from the UI code and track management code. Love the simplicity of this app.

Thank you so much for making this great app. It's the (almost) perfect replacement for my old favorite, iMote that no longer works properly under Leopard. The only think I would like to see added? An option to rename the name that shows on the menu, when iTunes isn't playing. "iTunesMenu" is just too big for my screen. As an example, my "Status Menu Order:" is simply "♫". Now, If I could do that for those occasions when iTunes isn't being used, that would be perfect.
