Version 3.1.5

Create iCal events and to-dos with natural language.

QuickCal overview

QuickCal lets you use plain text to create events and todos on any of your Mac OS iCal calendars! Tap a hotkey, type what you want, and done! Use simple, natural language, like:

"Pick up Joe @ LAX tomorrow 8p"
"Pay taxes before 4/15!"
"Lunch tomorrow at noon"
"Cycling class @6 for 1.5h"

As you type, QuickCal will show you what it is thinking, as well as pointing out any schedule conflicts with events you're about to create!

You'll be amazed how much quicker you can create events than using any other calendar app (native or otherwise). Nothing is faster than typing what you want!

In addition to this, QuickCal supports "Smart Reminders", which will create alarms at configurable time intervals, specific to how far in the future the event is. A meeting tomorrow? Reminder 15 min in advance. A meeting in 6 months? Remind a few _days_ in advance.

The QuickCal menu icon also will show you all events on your calendars for the current day! Quickly see what's going on at a glance.

New exciting features being actively developed!

2 months since the release of version 3.1.5 and App Store still has only version 3.1.2 dated Mar 07, 2012 (!!!) - why no update in MAS?
Is this another abandonware????

Follow up: Having finally figured out how to work with Mavericks Calendar and iCloud, I realized that QuickCal does not enter events into iCloud calendars, only On Your Mac. This means new events entered through QuickCal will not be pushed or synced through iCloud to your phone. Developer, is this fixable?

I use this on Mavericks. It works as well as it did before: stable, convenient, easy to master. One new glitch with the most recent update: whereas before you signaled a time range by a dash between start and end time, now the dash is interpreted as part of the event description and is entirely unnecessary to signal a time range. Simply putting the two times one after the other creates the range. I have never been able to figure out how to add notes or url links.

This doesn't work on Mavericks. Crashes every time when one tries to make a new event. That's a shame, too, because this was a wonderful app. I really hope Mavericks support arrives.

Works very well, excellent design, good natural-language engine, fonts more legible than Fantastical. But despite advertised integration with BusyCal, clicking on events always opens in Apple's Calendar (no matter what program is set as the default calendar app in OS X). Hope this is fixed!

I use and like Fantastical, but I see a lot more recommendations for QuickCal. Does anyone use QuickCal and think it's better than Fantastical? I'd like to see a feature/performance comparison.

The related dashboard widget is awesome (currently use it all the time and have my todo lists on the dashboard too). Love the time sensitive alarms - best feature ever. I would be prepared to move over to the menubar version if they built in the CalDAV tech that Fantastical has, so I don't need to keep iCal open for iCloud syncing to work. Also, repeating todos would be great so I don't have to keep BusyCal open too!!!! On the trial I couldn't get QuickCal to put reminders in date due order, even though I set it in preferences. Bug?

The reason I chose Fantastical rather than this is that I prefer e-mail alarms and as near as I can tell Quick Cal doesn't support this feature.

QuickCal is right near (and possibly at) the top of my must-have apps that I absolutely could not live with out. I've been a long-time user of the Dashboard widget, and now the menu bar and iPhone apps have extended QuickCal's fast, simple, and powerful design philosophy. Removes the stress of managing appointments with a one-step input solution that just works. I rarely have to open iCal, as QuickCal automatically sets intelligent alerts that I've grown to trust, and can quickly refer to the menu bar for a list of upcoming appointments if needed.

MacOS 10.7.2 - downloaded the demo - when attempting to open I get a text file showing credits but no program - nothing in the dock - no window - exactly nothing. Closing the text file window doesn't do anything other than close the text file window. The app site requires registration to add to a public forum in the hope that there is an answer to my problem - I declined to register. The rating's below are only set because without them I cannot post this.

Thanks for providing a demo. QuickCal has more features than Fantastical. It does todos also and has a slick no ui mode if desired. Plenty of settings to configure it exactly as you wish.

I can't figure out how to define the Location offered in the new-event window. Tried with Space, Comma, Semicolon and Tab after time - no success.

An excellent application ... a workhorse on my desktop. My only wish is that it were integrated with ActiveSync so that I could send out invitations from within QC. (BTW- is there anything sloooower than the App Store? Whew.)
