nuts ....just installed this version and trashed my old version and now this one does not work at all .....nothing gets outputted with either format, just stops immediately. now i have to go find an old version to download somewhere
I have just downloaded and installed it...but when I tried to convert a rvmb file, it kept giving me the following:
dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/PEnGUIn Encoder MP4.app/Contents/Resources/mencoder
Reason: Incompatible library version: mencoder requires version 7.0.0 or later, but libiconv.2.dylib provides version 5.0.0
I am on a Tiger, 10.4.11. Searched on the web for a bit...lots of mentioning about MacPorts...which I do not have.
Any ideas what I have done wrong?
The only app to translate RM and RMVB files in Mac OSX.
Interface is a bit unusual (eg. no mention of mp4). One has to choose "optimize" and then the option "PSP".
I got good results with all my RMVB files. Indeed, the colors and contrast got BETTER in the encoded mp4 than in the initial .RMVB file.
However, the speed of the .mp4 was excessive (about 15%). Some fine tuning may be necessary using the rather cryptic options of the optimize menu.
The app also works on incomplete films but it sticks to the original length of the film => one has to wait until the missing part is also encoded. Alternatively, one can interrupt the encoding at the right moment. In this latter case, I found that only Mplayer OSX extended could read the file ( = no further editing possible).
I tried this but I must be doing something wrong. Everytime I want to encode a vid I get the error
Cannot find file /Users/MyUsername/Movies/Moviename_vid.264
Error importing /Users/MyUsername/moviename_vid.264: Requested URL is not valid or cannot be found
The Movie I want to encode can be a Moviename.rmvb or Moviename.mov or Moviename.avi. I tried different settings and put the movies in different folders, it's always the same. I guess I'm just making a stupid mistake, but which one?
(Extra codes are installed and the binaries are updated. I'm using it with OS X 10.4.11)
Does PEnGUIn Encoder MP4 also support to convert VOB into MP4? Why my VOB file was converted into AVI when the conversion was completed, instead of MP4. And this software also did not allow me to choose "Itune" as my export destination. I am confused!!
works great for converting .rm files (except for the older ones), just have to use the optimize instead of the divx finction or the sound will be out of sync.
only problem is the converted files are darker than the original, a fix would be appreciated :)
Thanks
The only Mac app that can convert RM and RMVB format. Too bad it can't convert to AVI with DivX which I can watch on consumer DVD player with DivX certified. I did notice before the MP4 is created, Penguin actually convert the video to AVI (DivX 4) but later it merge with the audio resulting MP4.
Hope the developer can make it on next release. Also increase the conversion speed and reduced CPU usage. Like VisualHub does. Many thanks! :D
I quickly needed to convert an IV50 video, and I didn't want to learn how to use mencoder. Worked perfectly
(I'd give it 4 stars, but I couldn't figure out how the rating-thing works here)
hmm.. I can't seem to concert RMVB files properly.
It finishes converting with no problems. But I only end up with 2 files. One .aac sound file and another h264 file. Isn't it meant to be one file?? and my finder says the h264 file is zero bytes in size whereas the log in the program says it's around 200mb?????
I don't get it... sigh. And I was hoping my headaches with rmvb files on os x was solved :(
Doesn't do ANY HD encoding. When I read "Optimize for AppleTV" I expected 720p @23fps, which is the max AppleTV can handle. But alas, I'm still stuck ripping video with quicktime player.
