This software app is well worth the money. It has reduced my junk mail considerably.

Just resent to your gmail address.

Maybe it was mis-catagorized by your current email filter? ;-}

I bought this software a while back, and I have yet to have it work properly. As mentioned in previous comments, I have no problem with Customer Support, it is excellent. The problem I am having with this application is that I cannot seem to get it to "remember" email details such as port number, and so on.

The interface, though not very "Mac" like, is easy to understand, but I am stumped as HOW to get this to work for me. I would LOVE to be able to see for myself how well it works, but have yet to use this software, practically since I purchased it, well over a year ago.

I do use "Spam Sieve" with no installation problems, and I like to think that I am above average when it comes to following directions, installing software, computer maintenance etc. If someone could tell me how to rectify my situation, I will be more than happy to report my findings here.

As for not reporting this earlier, well, I just bought "Spam Sieve", while "Purify" has been sitting in my applications folder, unused.

As a filter I also use SpamSieve. I use Purify mainly for reporting purposes. It can also work as a filter and has features for Whitelist, Blacklist, Country, training, etc., but it's not as easy to use as SpamSieve.
Regarding your preferences, have you tried creating a new account under Accounts and deleting the old one. Maybe that can make your preferences stick. I have used it since it was called Sp@mX and it remembers my settings every time.
I hope this helps.

The preferences, settings, etc..., are stored in a file based SQLite database. Some of these tables are created when Purify runs for the first time. If your preferences, settings, etc..., are not taking, then it probably has something to do with your permissions to create / write to the preferences, settings, etc...

I haven't had a user report a problem with saving settings, so you might want to double check whether you have a piece of software running that would prevent these files from being created, or written to.

In an hsc message board post (you?) there was mention of Intego - VirusBarrier X6. When you run Purify for the first time, and the preferences, settings, etc... are created, I would make sure that this is off.

Also, Purify is not a Mac only app like Spamsieve. It has versions for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux, and works with virtually every email client, and I need to make sure that the user interface is usable on all three platforms.

I'll post this on the hsc board also in case anyone else runs into this problem.

While I'm at it, when Purify is figuring out where an email came from during both it filtering and reporting operations, it makes extensive use of the DNS system on port 43, and occasionally needs to reference the hsc abuse database on port 80. If you are running any software that blocks access to these ports, that would be a problem.

I downloaded this but get a Warning message from Safari Leo that:

"There may be a problem with this disk image. Are you sure you want to open it?
Opening this disk image may make your computer less secure or cause other problems."

Don't think I want to take the risk.

I have found out from Mr. Hendrickson that there was a problem with the email address to Purify support which is why I received no responses. Everything's back in order now. I must say that in the past I have received support usually within minutes and his support for his products is the best.

I paid for this app and now am getting a message that it has expired and I should contact support at hendricom. I've contacted hendricom three times without a response and have an app that doesn't work. $19.95 down the drain.

Unfortunately there are not many Mac tools to fight spam.
While this one has an interface that is not very Mac-like, the results are great. Customer support is also excellent.
Some people have suggested SpamSieve. I also have it and it is great, but it does NOT fight spam.
Purify allows me to report spammers and do something about the root of the problem. It's not merely a filter to keep my Inbox clean.
I've gotten many positive responses from ISPs. The latest one, summarized:
"The domain in question has already been disabled."
Great stuff.

Just a quick update-my spam level has dropped DRAMATICALLY since using this product.

It's a very welcome change, and turned a couple of accounts I had (an old yahoo and personal server email account) into useable accounts again-I truly believe that this program is responsible.

All it takes is a little training in the beginning, and the use of the "report spam" feature, and I noticed within a couple of months that my spam dropped off significantly. I went from around 50-100 spam messages (from all email accounts) down to 2-5 per day (and Purify catches these).

All in all, well worth it!

This SPAM filter and fighting back tool (abuse reporting) beats the competition hands down !

Purify will filter all your mail, catch almost 99.9% SPAM and send abuse reports in one click ! All this can be done within Mail.app (with some provided scripts) or in it's own interface.
It's really that easy !

Already incredibly efficient and still improving day after day thanks' to one of the most reactive developer I've ever met.

I use Purify since the beginning (was involved in beta testing) and previously used the same company's product called Em@ilCRX.

This might sound stupid but I need help with mail really bad. I am using Apple mail. I have my own server for my company and I have a Iphone. The apple mail gets 98% of all the spam mail but my phone gets all the mail. I receive and have received 80-100 e mails a day on my phone and about 10 are mine. Can someone please tell me how to set up this mail program so it either deletes it from my server first before sending or i was reading the reviews and it sounds like i can have the mail program get the mail filter it and then send it to my phone. Man i would be so grateful if someone could help me out here. I have been putting up with it for years. I'm ready to just stop getting mail on my phone.

Please your my only hope

Thanks
Bryce

Great software, which keeps getting better.

I was a long-time user of email@crx, which worked well. I found a marked decrease in the amount of spam I received over time, and used it in conjunction with SpamSieve (also highly recommended) for the few emails that got through-I tend to like software that cuts the spam down BEFORE it gets to my inbox, rather than filters it out after the fact, and Purify does this remarkably well.

The developer is great-he is quick to update the software, and really listens to the users, and implements changes quickly.

Any of my minor complaints are not even worth mentioning, as I know they will be quickly addressed by an update (the manner in which spam is reported could be better implemented).

Overall the best bit of software for this purpose I've found

Thank you for the feedback. I reinstalled Purify again. I checked the permissions, and made the necessary adjustments to read and write access for the ones I wanted, filled in the required account information, but still, no go. One funny thing however, is that when I reinstalled again, the pop settings for the account(s) were still intact, the filtering and reporting keys were as the were supposed to be in the POP settings. However, trying to enter the SMTP settings is where I have the issues.

If I leave Purify going in the background, without shutting it down, it seems to be okay, but there are times that it is not necessary for me to run this application continuously.

Any ideas??
