I was considering buying this but this is the third time this month I've been put off purchasing software solely because of the intrusive digital protection that LEGIT users have to put up with. As usual, no such annoyances for those that steal the software. The irony and idiocy continues with these clueless software companies.

Just the fact that you need an internet connection to run it makes this game pretty lame. Why should you be forced to have an internet connection to play it? That's a bit intrusive, don't you think? And from the other reviews I've read, it's a real resource hog! Two big strikes against what is still the king of traditional board games.
I'll buy the real world version and sit down with my family at table over this any old day.
NOT a good thing to be putting in a Promo pack. I'm guessing sales were so sluggish for this lousy bit of code that the only way to move it was to place in a bundle so you'd have to try it. As for the bundle, which is it? The page says it's a DEMO but then shows a price of 19.00 and some change. Huh?
What a bummer!

The MacUpdate Promo price was good and generally, the game is fine.

However, especially since Leopard, sounds and occasionally graphics, occur out of order. e.g., the "You've got a Monopoly!" sound will occur well into the next player's turn.

Problems are exacerbated on a busy system and occasionally, steps occur twice such as the "Finish Turn" dialog box returning after pressing the key.

The game is fine. A little slow on a 1GHz Powerbook with 1.25GB but, it's still acceptable. The only issue overall I've got and it's a MAJOR one, is that I'd want to use it for travel. In other words, if I'm in transit and want to play, I couldn't because it NEEDS ACCESS TO THE NET.

It has a digital rights wrapper application that checks for access to the net and without it ... stops dead. Oh well, another great opportunity wasted!

So, if you're ONLY going to use it at home, it would be fine but otherwise ...

The game was fun, but it was very slow on my computer. Too many superfluous visual effects with no way of disabling most of them. I don't play video games with friends so they can be as slow as playing the game by hand!

¥I have really enjoyed playing the game. It is easy to lose time during game action, which I take as a marker of an overall excellent computer gaming. Of the different Monopoly like games I have played on the Mac, this one is best.
¥Overall the game features are well done. I have a suggestions for the developer: Have an option to have traditional game (Atlantic City) with trad. pricing. Also give the user the option to config. the board to their own town or city. The reason I suggest that Monopoly could be used to educate students what real estate and businesses actually cost, to give them insight otherwise not possible into their communities tax base and development. These pref. could then be saved to the dev. web site and uploaded for others to use.
¥The game flow is really well done, and really adds to the playability of the game.
¥The graphics are very good, the only suggestion I would have is to have a window that all players can see what all other players have with running totals and each player automatically ranked. The music gets old too fast. I suggest a modal music model, with the option to play your own music with iTunes like can be done with WoW.
¥I found the game to be crash-free.

Interestingly enough, I've been playing the McDonald's Monopoly game recently and was lucky enough to Win a Free Game from GameHouse. The Monopoly Here & Now Edition was offered as my prize. I was excited as I was interested in buying it anyway.
Its a full version for my Mac. I am using a PPC G4 specifically a MDD Dual 1.25GHZ G4 with 2GB RAM, and Mac OSX 10.4.10. No Crashes yet, The Game runs great... I've played about 8 games with it in the last week. My wife and I enjoy the fluidity of animation. Its not an online game or a 60 minutes and it will die game as I've seen on some sites. Its a full version copy that I won. You can get tied up and play for hours. Which is the one thing i do not always like, Because sometimes it seems You get stuck and there is no way out. I could not find a way to speed up the game any. But otherwise its a good flow.
The AI or Computer player can be cutthroat and I've only won one game against playing it. I've learned that there are Rules Options so anyone can adjust the Monopoly Game experience to be harder or easier. Or you can just play the Standard Rules. Its really nice to be able to change Game Rules as you'd like to try different variations. The pieces are all updated, Laptop, Hybrid Car, Doggie, French Fries, Airplane are my favorite ones. The pieces are even animated too. Which makes it very whimsical and fun to see what they do. There is this really cute Police Van which comes and takes your Piece away when you land on Goto Jail. You don't really have to do a lot of steps to enjoy Monopoly. You can play against I think up to 8 different Human players or AI/Computer players. But I've only played with One on One with my wife and also against the Computer. There are 3 standard difficulty ratings... So if you want to be Hardcore you can get pretty tough. All the properties are updated, Airports instead of Railroads, Internet Service and Cell Phone service for the Utilities. Pass Go you collect $2 Million this time. This is definitely a great game for Kids too as there is no Objectional Content as far as I've seen.
Graphics can be Full Size or Window sized, and Sound is very rich and vibrant. I play the game and old memories of the good old days come flowing back. Compared to other Remake of Classic Board Games, I've played Risk and Game of Life on the new computer versions, this Monopoly Here & Now is the best one I've tried and seen.

The game is pretty polished and the graphics are fluid. No crashes as of yet. While the gameplay is updated for a more "modern" feel, it's still pretty much the same game.

I would have loved to have the "classic" version as an alternative play mode, for those of us who are nostalgic for playing this game as kids. Also, the music is extremely repetitive, and eventually I just had to turn the sound off for the music.

All in all, a fun game of Monopoly on the Mac!

I've been playing this game for the last couple of days. Kills time very efficiently ;-) Before this I hadn't played Monopoly since I was a kid. Now I remember why I enjoyed it so much! Anyway, I really like all aspects of the game, minus sound. Also, I haven't tried playing online yet so I can't comment on the online mode functionality. That being said I'm more than content playing against multiple computer opponents. I really like being able to adjust the computer characters AI individually. Great game, just like the real thing.
