Don’t want to talk about it, and the price isn’t so fair, neither.

I paid $500 for Logic Studio of which MainStage is apart.
Now I am blocked from the incremental updates which according to the update notes include an array of important bug fixes simply because I didn't buy MainStage from the app store? This is completely unacceptable. Dirty, rotten behavior.

Well, Echorob, Apple only has to lose about $350 billion and they're toast. Maybe you'll get your wish this year.

Just curious... have you guys tried calling Apple, explaining the situation to them, and seeing what might be done about it? I'm pretty sure Apple doesn't read the comments at MacUpdate. Who knows, they might be willing to help?

all this whining for $29?

It's not the $29. It's the principle of the thing. We all bought a suite, Main Stage included. Just because Apple decided to break it up for marketing purposes doesn't necessarily mean we Logic Studio owners should be penalized from receiving a free update for that part of the original suite.

It's not right and Apple should correct this.

Other than there was never an implicit promise that you would or could get a free update. Any future upgrades/updates are priced at the discretion of the developer, Apple or otherwise. I keep that in mind whenever I buy any software..what is their policy for upgrades.

If we are arguing on principle, no one has pointed out that Logic Studio was $500, while Logic Pro X is $199.99? Not upset about that? Logic Studio is also discontinued.

But we are getting upset over $29?

Guess what, Logic Studio isn't getting any updates either! So why would the Main Stage part get updates?

I'd call Apple myself.

I've got 2.1.3 installed, but the 2.2 update doesn't show up in Software Update for me. Perhaps the new update is only available for people who bought the standalone version on the App Store. Seems a bit unreasonable to cut off existing users for a minor update though. Maybe it's just not in Software Update yet.

…Nope. Turns out you don't get 2.2 if you got MainStage as part of Logic Studio. The latest version is now only available for people who bought the standalone version on the App Store.

Bit of a dick move on Apple's part. MainStage was a nice bonus in Logic, but I'm not paying $30 for it.
