Adjust system volume and more using your mousewheel.

Overview

iVol is a program you can use to adjust the sound volume of your computer in an extremely easy way. Just press your mouse wheel and scroll it up or down. You do not even have to move your hand! In addition, it also supports Shift+Wheel as an alternative.

The program can display an on-screen volume level, and also allows you to switch between audio devices using Alt+Wheel.

Usage tips:

  • Just press and scroll the mouse wheel. A volume indicator is shown to tell you how much the current volume is. You can disable the volume indicator while you are playing games.
  • Alternatively, you can use SHIFT + Wheel UP/DOWN to adjust the volume as well.
  • You can also change the current sound device whose volume will be adjusted by pressing ALT + Wheel UP/DOWN.
  • Double click the mouse wheel to toggle the "Mute" status.
  • While mouse is over the indicator,
    • Right-click to switch to next device;
    • Left-click to switch to previous device;
    • Wheel Up/Down to adjust volume.

I downloaded and installed. Did not work. Nothing happened when using my scroll wheel or any of the buttons or keys suggested. I am using an iMac, OS 10.4.9 and a logitch wireless mouse.

I downloaded this on my home mac after using "volumouse" on Windows at my job. Volumouse has more features, which I would love to see for mac... specifically, I prefer the function "hold left mouse button + scroll mouse wheel" over "press and scroll mouse wheel" to change volume. But the limited function of iVol works smoothly on my OSx 10.6.8.

Dear users, Please remember to enable the mouse wheel as the "Button 3" in "System Preferences"->Mouse->Keyboard & Mouse->"Mouse" tab. Happy scrolling!

Same here. MacBook, Mac OS X 10.4.10, Mighty Mouse USB. Neither holding down the scroll ball nor holding down SHIFT changes the volume when scrolling.

This is exactly what I did - held down the scroll wheel while turning it. Nada.

There is no button 3 choice for the mouse in system preferences, just right and left. It might also be the problem that I am using a Logitech mouse, wireless, and the scroll wheel functions when pressed. Interference?
